Publisher's Summary

I inherited a freaking husband.
Grandpa's will was a shocker: huge fortune, gorgeous ranch, and the best horse ever.
The fine print? Marrying Mr. Grump-alicious.
The man who's supposed to protect me from...what, exactly?
That's what I hope to find out if Drake Larkin ever talks.

I know what I'm in for the first time his glance tears me open.
A broody enigma who's large and in charge.
A mute who curls my toes when he barks a few words.
A silly, shameful, is-this-real-life crush I can't afford.

Did I mention our pretend marriage-rodeo lasts six damn months?
Long enough to teach my heart cartwheels.
Time enough to seal this madness with a kiss.
Insane enough for secrets to slip - and sting.

Grandpa's last wishes scare me. So do Drake's real motives.
But it's my beast of a "husband" who makes ridiculous seem right.
Have I found my knight?
Does love have a prayer when life throws us a dragon?

Accidental wonderfullness

I read this first, it sounded so good I couldn't wait for it to come to Audio. I was concerned about it on audio, it is scary that the wrong narrator could ruin a book. I'm happy to say that didn't happen with this one. I thought Chelsea Hatfield was the perfect choice for Bella, she sounded like the right age, and I never doubted her. Jean Paul Mordrake was also great and I Iike listening to him. The marriage coming first is always a great story, though this was a romance story with a crime feel to it as well. The other story was in many ways more prominent, but the romance was also fantastic. The books description is quite good. The story follows Bella and Drake as they try to hang onto her grandfather's oil company and ranch. The deceptions and who to believe, was great. Watching Bella grow as a woman in maturity and learning to stand up for herself. It was a great story in print and great in audible as well.

Enjoyable!

I really enjoyed this book. It kept my interest right to the end. Nicole Snow is one of my favorite contemporary authors and whenever I take a break from my historical books, I click on one of her sexy stories. This book delivered everything I wanted. A good plot, fantastic H/h and sweet, hot loving to curl your toes. Jean Paul Mordrake and Chelsea Hatfield did an excellent job with the narration. Well done!

Unexpected Love

This is a great book, twists and turns around every new corner. More bad guys then you can handle and a crazy cool horse. I didn't want to go to sleep, it had me laughing and crying. Standalone with no cliffhangers and a great epilogue.

I laugh at the h misfortunes

Is it wrong of me that I laugh at all the h stupidity and misfortunes? She deserved everything that happened to her. I wouldn't have cared had she died and Drake moved on. I honestly think it's the female narrators that ruin books for me. They're just so OTT and it makes my eyes roll. I had originally read this book versus listening and I don't remember hating the h the way that I do while listening. Theres so many points I can pick out where I just think, nope I wouldnt have stood for that. Her mom is abusive. It doesn't matter what her life was like previously, she chose to a abuse her daughter. Her dad, his lack of, well anything, is just a different form of child abuse. In his sob story about his wife he ultimately allowed her to do the same thing to their daughter. There is no redeeming them to me. But Bella has no backbone or brains really to look out for herself. And I did a lot of laughing and eye rolling at the decisions she made. She runs off half cocked never willing to listen and gets herself into trouble that she cant get herself out of. She doesnt like decisions made for her or secrets but she does this to Drake, and his sister, yeah she says she wants her brother back but then goes right back to treating him how she did in the past. I guess I dont have a family where I have to worry about these kinds of things with. I would have told them all to go F themselves and moved on with my life without any of them in it. The only good part of this book, that dang horse. .

I love the cowboy / ranch theme and the fact that the woman’s mother goes through a healing transformation. Well written! Totally swoon worthy. My kind of dream life...

Horse, Army buddies, and money

Both narrators did a great job! I don’t know if they were aiming for a southern drawl or a northern cowboy drawl. That’s the only thing I didn’t like. The story is sweet, had a lot of mysteries unfold, great character development, great plot, and the ending left me very satisfied with the entire book. A nice cross between a JD Robb mystery and Nicholas Sparks romance.
