Publisher's Summary

Would you like to walk into a room full of people and remember everyone’s name? Is it your dream to meet a new client and blow them away with your expertise in your field?

We all have a tricky time remembering things sometimes, but with a lack of sleep, too many obligations, and stress compounding, it can be hard to remember where your car keys are. The problem isn’t you getting older, life getting more complicated, or your memory. The problem is with the "Filing System" your brain currently uses to store and remember anything. If you change the filing system you use, you can double or even triple your memory comprehension.

Accelerated Learning is a handbook designed to reprogram your brain, using safe, simple techniques that are intuitive, and don’t take much time out of your day. If you practice the exercises inside this audiobook, you’re going to be able to:

  • Give lengthy, interesting presentations, and speeches without notes
  • Memorize relevant information about anything you need to quickly access
  • Retain more information, from people’s names, to dates to technical fluency
  • Improve your grades, study skills, and social abilities
  • Memorize groups of numbers after hearing them once
  • And so much more

Awesome

Rick Gladwell book about accelerated learning seemed to be primarily addressed to students. There was some effort made to provide a big picture in terms of the way our brains work and process information. This was certainly helpful in understanding some of the ideas presented. The concepts and techniques in the book were related primarily to two theoretical frameworks: The VAK (visual-auditory-kinetic learning patterns) and the framework of multiple intelligences. Some techniques were related to our basic physiology. For example, the idea that we can read faster by not subvocalizing. The basic guiding principle is that although “multitasking” is extremely inefficient, involving more modalities, e.g. combining more than one type of intelligence, will lead to enhanced learning when we are focused, and practicing helpful techniques. The overall key to learning according to the book is somewhat subtle, combining practice, practice, practice with high quality. If we practice at techniques yielding low quality results, then we will get good at that type of result. In other words, practice only makes perfect, if one is working at techniques that yield perfection. Many, many potentially helpful techniques for learning are presented. Overall, this seems to be a very practical book focused on improving our learning techniques and in making learning more efficient. I found the theoretical framework, too, to be useful, so I think this book is generally helpful for anyone who is engaged in learning, not just students in school.

Wow! The brain is truly an awesome,God-given mechanism! I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the parts of the brain and how each intricate part affects learning through this book. Rick Gladwell took a very serious, complicated process and made it thoroughly understandable and enjoyable. His approach to accelerated learning was practical, common-sense, and down-to-earth. I had quite a few laughs and many "Aha!" moments after reading his book. I can't wait to apply some of the learning strategies presented!

This book is written in a very straightforward, conversational and helpful tone. As a 50 year old re-entry student I am not as confident as I was when I first took my college courses in the 80's and 90's. This book really has empowered me to feel confident and has taught me valuable techniques that apply to every day life as well. It really helps you set the table and enjoy the food for thought and get more done in less time I would recommend this book to High School, Community College, College Undergraduate (lower and upper division) and Graduate School level students. Learning is a journey and this book gives you valuable fun tools you will need along the way.

ATTENTION ALL NURSING PREREQS STUDENTS!
This is a great book. I am now in a nursing program; and regret to say that I found this too late. Had I found this book when I was taking my A&P prereqs, I can’t imagine how my present path would be.
This was a great read. I did it in two sittings. It’s worth the investment and please don’t hesitate the purchase. Dr. McCullough’s writing style is straight-forward and immensely enjoyable. As a result of it being an enjoyable experience, you will be able to apply it right after you put the book down (you’ll see what I mean after you read the book). Good luck to all in your A&P courses.

I'm a veteran returning to college, and I started to really struggle and experiencing test anxiety and it seemed no matter how I studied I was still doing bad on exams. after readying this book and learning about my brain and what works best for how I studied, has been very beneficial so far. some of the stuff I knew but there is nothing wrong with finding some of the same information that what was once lost in my brain. I will also add this, it's easier said than done and breaking habits. Also do the test, and go to the recommended websites. do the book and the question. I learned that my brain is accessing more of the left side than the right. I also learned what I need to do, to access more of the right side, which should really help retaining and memory for the next classes. I recommend this book for any student in or out of college.

I really enjoyed this book and gleaned many valuable ideas and tips from it; and that's after having taken an entire college
semester course on becoming "A Master Student."

One of the other reviewers bemoans the fact that much of the info is old or common sense, which in part could be true;
however, what they are missing is how much time went into compiling such knowledge and presenting it
in a streamlined fashion. In other words, this book saved me hundreds of hours that I would have
spent on my own researching everything just to come to the same conclusions.

A genuine goldmine of correspondence data! Every part succinctly addresses parts of verbal and nonverbal correspondence in a manner that is straightforward and has genuine application proposals. While understanding you begin to perceive your very own errors and accidents in correspondence and are furnished with applicable elective reactions.

First beginning to examine your very own relational abilities feels interesting. Anyway once you begin to apply the data Ian gives, you have incredible connections with individuals and correspondence turns into a wellspring of joy! This is one of the best and most affordable speculations I've made in my life and connections and consistently anticipate applying the information in this book. Much obliged to you Ian, really.
