Publisher's Summary

The Price of Gold

A wagon train winding through the remote reaches of the Rocky Mountain high country can attract plenty of scavengers - some of them human - like Vic Bedell and his gang of cutthroats. All he wants is the women, who can be traded for gold mine supplies...or used for whatever else he has in mind. But he didn't count on Preacher leading that train.

The Color of Blood

Bedell's first mistake is leaving the First Mountain Man for dead. His second mistake is underestimating Preacher's strength...and cunning. And Preacher needs all he can get to lead 150 helpless ladies out of captivity...through 1500 miles of unforgiving territory filled with hostile Indians - and the deadliest threat of all: Bedell and his wild avengers....

Best Johnstone yet.

I really appreciated the deepening of the character. Much more unpredictable than McAlister series. Narrator was perfect for my visualization of the Preacher. I love that Preacher follows through. My motto is ‘say what you mean and mean what you say’. This story fits perfect!!

Captivating & very well narrated book

This is the 3rd audio book of the series that I have listened to, and the first one that I've commented on. It is a very well narrated series, and written with detailed descriptions that makes one almost feel like they're watching a movie of Preacher.

I have caught myself many times, sitting in my vehicle, waiting to hear what is about to happen. The characters of the various Mountain Men are described so well you think you know them in person.

I will be looking for a continuation of the series, if one is available.

Another great ride

I really enjoy this series, the only drawback is that the narators voice is so low that it is difficult to hear clearly at times when I am trying to listen while driving. Other than that it is great all around.

Great Series

The First Mountain Man is a great series if you like the old time westerns. My husband really enjoys these early William Johnstone books. This is the third in the Preacher series. Preacher is a no nonsense guy. These books are rough and tough westerns. Love Rodney Turner as the narrator. He has a great deep voice. If you like old time westerns, try this series. Waiting for the 4th Preacher book in audio.
