too much graphic sexual content

Especially for a Christian writer. it goes way beyond necessary to convey the point of moral depravity, too the point that I became embarrassed to listen to it out loud if anyone else was around.

Darkness and evil

I realize that Abraham live during a time of Idol worshiping. But, in this novel there is a lot of barbaric, lewd, lasciviousness, and horrific things
that happened. These graphic descriptions were hard for me to listen to, so I skipped several chapters.

Very good story

I really enjoyed this book. The only thing I could do with out is the depravity. But I see what the author is trying to show, and he does it well enough with out being to vulgar.
I would by all means recommend all four books to anyone and I can't wait to start on book five.

Good but not as good as the first 3 books

This book is an excellent story. But unlike the first 3 books this one has excessive discussion of sex and rape. Sure those things happen, but sheesh. Hopefully the next one goes back to the cleaner read the first couple books were.

Enjoyed the story, and my wife's favorite

after reading I started my wife on this one, she related alot to Sara we had lot's if trouble having children but God came through, a retelling of a story we all know, but with more context, loved the author artistic license.

This whole series is a new favorite of mine!

This story weaves Abram/Abraham into a character we can relate with; the father of nations who also had long periods of time with no word from God; it reminds me of his humanity and I love that he was actually not a super warrior as some previous book heroes; I love his acceptance of being a regular man with some fighting skills and a heart full of faith that realizes his reliance on God; one of my favorite lines in the book is Yahweh stating he requires faith not perfection.

Yes, as many other reviews stated, there are a lot of descriptive sexual encounters mentioned in this book, which bothered me at first, but those showed the oneness of man and wife as God’s plan in stark contrast to the sick and twisted depravity of evil men and women when ruled by their own lusts and the depravity of the demonic. And the depravity of Sodom and Gomorrah, was just as real as he described it in this book; it truly opened my eyes as to why the Lord wiped out those evil cities completely with no survivors, it also revealed to me why entire populations and tribes of peoples and giants were completely annihilated in the Old Testament. And why it was necessary, which was always a big question for me when reading my Bible. Without the explicitness of his description of these, perhaps I would still be questioning that.

I also LOVE that the author narrates these stories, in doing so, we get the enunciations that in many books are missed by narrators. He truly represents his characters wonderfully, and there are no missed moments or mispronunciations and emphasis placed in the wrong section of a sentence or section that caused me to have to go back through that section later to get the full intended meanings.

I can’t wait to start my next book!

Great reimagining

I love and appreciate the vivid reimagining of this classic biblical tale with the added nephilim flavor!
