Great leadership principles & fun for Buckeye fans

I thought this was a great book that really pulled together important keys to developing a truly united team in the context of a national championship season at The Ohio State University. Plus it was just a lot of fun to read!

Just a great leadership book

If you could sum up Above the Line in three words, what would they be?

Three words? I can do it it in three letters B.C.D. is the acronym I have been looking for my entire business life. Blame Complain Defend If you can get BCD out of your team and your family life the world has to become a magical and successful place. To say it is a work in progress in both places for me would be an massive understatement. Trying to convince an 8 year old who's favorite pastime is arguing and proving herself right that eliminating BCD behavior is the way to go is quite a bit more difficult then trying it with a team of sales people, and that is proving quite a bit difficult by itself. This gives me some hope if he can make it happen with 18-22 year old elite athletes most of whom probably have never heard the word no until they got to campus.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

this is absolutely a book that I would like to listen to in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

This is a book that I will continue to go back to you on a pretty regular basis for motivation on leadership.

Amazing story of leadership!

What an engaging story to illustrate great leadership in action. I especially loved the recounting of lessons learned. It comes from a place of gratitude and humbleness—great attributes for any leader. If you coach people, whether in the classroom, business, or in sports, you’ll learn a lot from Urban.

A leadership masterpiece

Urban Meyer's story of the 2014 Ohio State Buckeyes is a fresh take at achieving a work/life balance in the pursuit of excellence in your chosen field. Great for anyone who wants to know how to be or understand the finer points of being a leader, "Above the Line" is a great book to give you a template for that task. Jason Culp's performance doesn't overdramatize the message and strikes a pitch perfect tone.

Athletics to Business applications

Great audio book. The principles used by Urban Meyer are well thought out and tested with his players. Most all of them would be applicable to the business setting from the 10/80/10 rule to the behavior exhibited by Above the Line employees. I learned a lot and have given a book to each of my 8 product management employees so they can learn the same qualities needed for successful leadership. Great book!
