Publisher's summary

For Nolwenn witch Talaith, a bad day begins with being dragged from bed by an angry mob intent on her crispy end and culminates in rescue by - wait for it - a silver-maned dragon. Existence as a hated outcast is nothing new for a woman with such powerful secrets. The dragon, though? A tad unusual. This one has a human form to die for, and knows it. According to dragon law, Talaith is now his property, for pleasure or otherwise. But if Lord Arrogance thinks she's the kind of damsel to acquiesce without a word, he's in for a surprise.

Is the woman never silent? Briec the Mighty knew the moment he laid eyes on Talaith that she would be his, but he'd counted on tongue-lashings of an altogether different sort. It's embarrassing, really, that it isn't this outspoken female's magicks that have the realm's greatest dragon in her thrall. No, Briec has been spellbound by something altogether different, and if he doesn't tread carefully, what he doesn't know about human women could well be the undoing of his entire race.

Critic reviews

"The second installment in Aiken's trilogy ( Dragon Actually, 2008) follows in the quirky, humorous tradition of Xena, offering a welcome high fantasy with modern sensibilities." ( Booklist)

Narrator is getting somewhat better ...

The first couple of books this narrator read were cringe worthy on her performance. This one is less so. Story was good, a better narrator would have made listening to it more enjoyable. But, hopes are higher now for her performance to continue to improve as I listen to this series.

Hilarious and violent

Superbly written story, highly entertaining, great storyline continuing from "Dragon Actually". A wonderful departure from others of the genre.

I'm reading as fast as I can

I love her strong characters you really care about them by the time you finish reading the book. And they can really make you laugh. Hollie Jackson can read me to sleep any time. She never messes up her voices. I can always tell who is talking. I always (at least so far) enjoy Shelly's book. She needs to write faster.

These two

I will admit that it's been a while since I read this book so I had forgotten a lot of what it was about at first. I'm really happy that it was funnier than I remember, but I have to say I appreciate the two more being reacquainted with their story; it helps knowing the basis for their dynamic for later books.

Hooked to the series!

After listening to this story, I'm officially hooked to the series! I love how while this story is primarily about Briec and Talaith, it's also about all the siblings and everything else that's happening now that Anwynn is queen. Loving all the strong, sassy and capable female leads! The only thing I didn't like was how immature Izzy was, she didn't act anything like a strong 16 year old who has survived the worst and has been on the run most of her life. I hope she grows up a bit in the next book.

Bravo to a wonderfully action packed erotic story

This happens to be a bwwm love story but without actually using race as a label. The story is part of the series of stories about the rolay family of dragons. The writing is funny, snarky & colorful. The eroctia scene are not too crass & the drama is well place.. G.A. Aiken (Shelly L) is one of the most gifted & entertaining writers around. The characters range in different personallities, skin tone, cultures and gender roles. Any story by this author is a wise decision.. I will continue following the series & any other stories this author writes.

Good book but…

I like this series but I have never warmed up to Talli. I am not a fan of her character and the constant bickering gets tiring. I am excited to read the beast though.

As you can tell, I have already read or listened to the entire series. I am currently revisiting it. The audio is good.

Needs more stars

I so love this world and characters. You never know just what can happen or when all the rules can change! The dark humour is perfect in this world.

Fun!

Although the narration needs more space (it barely takes a break) where I assume print has markers to help the flow, this is a great series. I'm not a huge fan of fantasy, but I LOVE this series. Trust me, take a chance, you won't be disappointed.
