Publisher's Summary

A beautiful coming-of-age story with just enough romantic tension to keep you listening late into the night.

Since the death of her mother, Abigail Blakeslee has lost any desire to become a debutante and enter Society. But now, foregoing her first Season has brought an unwanted invitation to join her aunt and cousins for a summer at Timpton House, the large estate of the Stanton family.

Reluctantly accepting, Abigail is thrust into the vexing world of social propriety and matchmaking she had hoped to avoid. More vexing still is her cousin’s suitor, the young Timpton heir - Edwin Stanton. Moody and distant at times, remarkably endearing at others, Edwin seems a puzzle she can never solve, but can never quite put away. But then, Abigail has her own secret to hide - her own mystery to conceal. Perhaps such puzzles are better left unsolved, or perhaps love can find a solution.

Disappointed by ending!

The story was very promising at the start - and almost 7/8's of the way through(!) - although I hated the way that Abagail always interpreted everything she thought or heard in a negative way!
But the ending (again!) as I find in several of these romance books - was too mushy! They reiterated over and over again how much LOVE was between each of the people in one of the families! Of course they loved each other! What else?

Good characters and plot

I found this story captivating and a welcome relief from the standard regency romance novel. Characters were compelling, plot twists were fun.

everything you could want in a regency!

I'm not really sure why it took me so long to finally read this book, but I'm SO glad I did. It's everything we love about regency romances...the banter, the characters, the countryside experiences, the terrible relatives, secret meetings, and walks through the garden... This story really takes that "we don't talk about it" part of the regency time period and runs with it. There's loads of miscommunication that creates a lot of great tension between the main characters; they're both very good at bringing out the frustration in the other person, but in the best way.

Please give this one a shot when you're looking for your next regency fix!

Loved this story and the narration!

A beautiful clean story with great character depth and development. I especially loved the sister! The narrator had me engrossed in the story from the beginning. It reminded me of the book Pride and Prejudice as i listened, I’m pretty sure this is gonna be my new favourite author!

good story horrible reader

the story itself was good but the woman who read it was not, she had no emotion she was very robotic and made it hard to really enjoy the story and image it. I think had the reader been different the book would have been amazing but it was lacking

a story you can't miss

such a sweet love the main couple share. it truly feels based on respect and admiration for each other. the story has its twists and surprises and I truly loved the ending.

it has one of my favorite things which is NOT waiting until the last chapter to tie all loose ends and leaving you wanting. this book takes its time to let you enjoy the resolution and what comes after <3

Love this story

I had the pleasure of reading this book when it first came out. Being able to listen to it has been a real pleasure. I love this story. The characters & the entire story line is well developed & intriguing. Even having previously read it, I still had that anticipation of “will everything work out” like you get with a first reading. If you enjoy Regency Era novels then you will enjoy this story. This is a clean, feel good read that I definitely recommend.
