Publisher's Summary

A beautiful coming-of-age story with just enough romantic tension to keep you listening late into the night.

Since the death of her mother, Abigail Blakeslee has lost any desire to become a debutante and enter Society. But now, foregoing her first Season has brought an unwanted invitation to join her aunt and cousins for a summer at Timpton House, the large estate of the Stanton family.

Reluctantly accepting, Abigail is thrust into the vexing world of social propriety and matchmaking she had hoped to avoid. More vexing still is her cousin’s suitor, the young Timpton heir - Edwin Stanton. Moody and distant at times, remarkably endearing at others, Edwin seems a puzzle she can never solve, but can never quite put away. But then, Abigail has her own secret to hide - her own mystery to conceal. Perhaps such puzzles are better left unsolved, or perhaps love can find a solution.

Good story

This was a good story with a good narrator. At no point did I dislike any of the main characters and the plot was not obvious. The story kept you on your toes. good story to keep you company while doing chores.

A story of happily ever after

I love this novel and was excited to hear the audio book. The narrator is fantastic. Her male voices are so good that the story flows seamlessly. She brings the story to life in the best possible way and I fell in love with it all over again.

Fabulous Regency romance!

I absolutely love this story! This is Jess Heileman’s remarkable debut novel, and one of my favorite books! I can not recommend this book enough - it’s a gift to enjoy again and again. (4.5 stars) - a lovely Regency fairytale

I agree with those reviewers who say (in a complimentary way) that this book is similar in some respects to "Edenbrooke" but this is certainly a richer, more complex tale.

In the true measure of a great story, once I began reading, I couldn't put it down. Within the setting at Stanton, with the wicked aunt & 2 cousins, it takes on a cinderella flavor - except Prince Charming is replaced by a cranky version of Mr Darcy. Abigail sparks to life in their encounters & serves the grump some pretty witty rejoinders.

There were several issues that will likely offend Regency purists, & the revelation of the reasons for his behavior doesn't fully excuse Edwin's incivility, but this is the kind of story where if you let things go and just enjoy the ride, you'll reach the happily-ever-after with all the satisfying feels you're looking for!

The narrator has a lovely British accent and was a pleasure to listen to

*Clean romance level: passionate kisses

Love this story

I had the pleasure of reading this book when it first came out. Being able to listen to it has been a real pleasure. I love this story. The characters & the entire story line is well developed & intriguing. Even having previously read it, I still had that anticipation of “will everything work out” like you get with a first reading. If you enjoy Regency Era novels then you will enjoy this story. This is a clean, feel good read that I definitely recommend.
