Story
Roshar is a world of stone and storms. Uncanny tempests of incredible power sweep across the rocky terrain so frequently that they have shaped ecology and civilization alike. Animals hide in shells, trees pull in branches, and grass retracts into the soilless ground. Cities are built only where the topography offers shelter. It has been centuries since the fall of the 10 consecrated orders known as the Knights Radiant, but their Shardblades and Shardplate remain: mystical swords and suits of armor.

Publisher's summary
Because of recent reviews stating editing issues, ARV-3 has been re-edited and revised. The new copy has been uploaded, and is better than ever! Now being made into a short-film by Timid Monster.
The beginning of the end. The Apocalypse. A nuclear fallout wiped out every living thing on the planet, except for a few thousand of us who took shelter in underground bunkers across the globe. Now, after 13 long years, we were finally able to return to the topside to begin to rebuild. We thought we were alone. We were never more wrong. Before the fallout, scientists had worked on creating an anti-radiation vaccine (ARV). The first two attempts failed, but despite the incomplete tests and results, the government approved and distributed the third serum to the masses in an effort to aid those who had no shelter. It worked, keeping those who remained on the topside alive, but it also altered and mutated them. This new and infectious threat had completely outnumbered us. Now, we not only had to rebuild our planet. We would have to fight for it. My name is Abigail Park. I'm 17, and this is my story.

Very good, just not my cup of tea
I listen to a lot of zombie stories; recently there have been a some excellent titles. This one is just as good as any of those. But it just wasn't my cup of tea. This one has a lot more of “boyfriend/girlfriend” issues. To be honest I really dislike listening to this sort of stuff, I really dislike listening to sex scenes particularly when riding on public transport!
Whenever the story line moved away from the teen love relationships it had me gripped, the story quickly sped up and the tension was perfect! In fact the last 2 and half hours of this story was brilliant!
The man character in this one is the female version of the main character Zach from 'Z-14'.
The female narrator did a great job with the main character. But the male voices seemed forced. Not enough to make it painful. If I was thinking about purchasing another book narrated by Erin Moon I would definitely listen to the sample first. I suspect her voice would not be suitable for a story told mainly through a male character.
The speed of the narration was not an issue and I only had to increase the speed to 1.25x This gives you a good 8 hours. Might be important if you watch your credit/per hour ratio.
My buying advice if you like your end of the world zombie style genre told through the eyes of a warrior teenage princess. Then this is a winner. Even if you don't but like it told from this type of perspective, it is still pretty good… it just wasn’t my cup of tea!

Not quite what I expected
Any additional comments?
The premise was good, the summary seemed interesting. The problem is this story is pretty much a teenage love story that is set during a post apocalyptic zombie infested earth. If that is what you are looking for, read it. If not, don't waste your time.

Chillingly addictive!
Where does ARV-3 rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
The narrator was engaging, bringing to life one of my favorite series! Definitely on the lookout for more of her readings.
Any additional comments?
OMFG! That about sums it up. This my first taste of Cameo Renae’s writing and she does not disappoint! It has it all from first love, zombies-like creatures, heart-thudding action, all wrapped up in a page turner package.
It’s the end of days. The worst possible scenario has happened; a solar flare pitching the world into utter chaos. A new world without power and nuclear plant meltdowns dousing the world in deadly levels of radiation, killing all wildlife and forcing people to take shelter in underground bunkers. Suddenly, all the doomsday preppers were the hope for humanity’s survival. With the world in a panic and the government without any solution to the disaster, they approved a highly unstable vaccine to shield the radiation with dire side effects.
Seventeen year old, Abigail Park hasn’t seen the sky in thirteen years. The Hive has been the only home she has ever known until now. Underground with fifteen other preppers, she has been waiting for this day forever. With her best friend, Finn and the other families at her side, they plan to go topside to make the thousand mile trek to government safe zone. But nothing could prepare them for what waited for them on the surface. Because the fallout isn’t the scariest thing possible and surviving has only begun.
Cameo’s unique twist on ‘zombies’ is unlike anything you have ever read. It pulls you in from page one and doesn't let go until the end. Even then, you want more! It’s gory, endearing and terrifying. Quite a feat for a dystopian novel but be warned . . .this book will definitely cause a book hangover. There is no putting this book down!

An amazing author with an enthralling skill.
Would you listen to ARV-3 again? Why?
I don't listen to audiobooks more than once, but I do often go back and listen to certain scenes and lines that call to me.
What other book might you compare ARV-3 to and why?
Hmmm...Hard one, but the world is perfectly created, characters are fleshed out and realtable. I care about what happens to each of them!!! It's not often you get that with a book post apocalyptic book, but Cameo did a great job. I won't compare this book to any other because I think it is its own book it need not be compared to anything else.
Have you listened to any of Erin Moon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
Not yet. This is the first one and I think she did a great job.

Terrible writing
I could not get into this cringe worthy book. I think the principle of the story was good but the writing and performance was so bad that I couldn't even get through it. This is the first book that I've tried to listen to for the story alone but the writing was so bad that I just couldn't. I ended up returning it. I don't know why this book every got published. It's just so bad.

Teenage Love Despite The Apocalypse
ARV-3 has been on my to-read list for quite some time. It's that bio-hazard sign that sucks me in. This was the first book by Cameo Renae that I read, so I wasn't sure what to expect out of it.
ARV-3 (or anti-radiation vaccine) was meant to be their last chance of hope. The government was running out of time and wanted to save as many people as they could before radiation killed them all. Unfortunately, ARV wasn't fully tested on humans so they couldn't know what would happen. They couldn't have imagined what came next.
The story revolves around Abby and the people from her bunker as they try and survive underground and then again out of the bunker. Abby was your typical strong-willed female protagonist. She was strong, smart, and able to complete almost anything put in front of her.
The story itself was interesting to me. It wasn't much about the actual ARV mutation or virus or any of that but much more about the after effects of it. The post in post-apocalyptic.
My biggest issue with ARV-3 was what I would call "forced teen romance." I don't think this book was aimed at me (a male in my 30's) but a lot of the dialogue and romantic moments felt awkward and forced. Sure, they're teenagers and what isn't awkward at that age? But it was hard to follow at some points. Some of the characters seemed to have an off/on switch for certain things (not thinking about something ever in your whole life, to it being the only thing you can think of). While other things just felt "too good to be true". Ironically, this happened while the world was falling apart around them.
With that being said, I still really found myself enjoying the book. There were a couple times where I thought, okay, okay, come on, let's stop talking about the romance there are "arvies" all around you!
But, overall ARV-3 was a great story that we a little side-tracked by some teenage romance. I still enjoyed it and will definitely keep going with the series. The story itself drew a lot of parallels to other books and movies I've enjoyed which are definitely keeping me interested.
The narration of ARV-3 was done by Erin Moon who I thought did a pretty good job. There were a few accents or people that she did that weren't perfect, but at the same time, I cannot imagine that's easy to pull off. Ironically my least favorite voice that Moon did ended up fitting her character so well by the end that it grew on me.
I was given a free copy of ARV-3, this has not affected my review in any way.

Potential is there... Somewhere
For a teen heroine romance apocalyptic adventure this book shows promise. Unfortunately there are illogical and unreasonable (not believable or rational or realistic) plot elements that create gaping holes in the story. The author's overuse of some elements of style make it feel like the book vacillates between cheap soft porn, Jack Reacher-like heroic adventure and social manifesto. And the grammatical errors left in by the editors are the (sour) icing on the cake. The author has some potential - with the right coaching and a good editor.
