The opportunity to tour Israel came at a good time. For months, my life has been a mindless plodding through necessary routine, as monotonous as an all-night shift on an assembly line. Life gets that way sometimes, when nothing specific is wrong but the world around us seems drained of color. My weekly worship experiences and daily quiet times with God have felt as dry and stale as last year's crackers. I'm ashamed to confess the malaise I've felt. I have been given so much. Loved this book
The book took me back to ww2 and reminds me of all the stories my Dad told me of the war and that era. I Loved the story and the ending. The narrater was fantastic.

Historically accurate, fun plot and characters

Great
I really enjoyed this story and the narrator was phenomenal. The only negative that I can say is that I wanted an epilogue to see how the women fared in the post-war timeperiod. it was a lot of buildup about them and how they grew, but nothing about their lives after the shipyard.

WWII story from the homefront
I really enjoyed this story of 4 very different women who meet when they each decide to work at the shipyard in their town helping to make ships and landing craft for the the war effort. How they come to this and how they change and what they discover about themselves along the way is well written and interesting. While some of it is predictable, it is interesting to see how the author allows it to unfold. As they become friends they help each other in ways they don't always realize. Lynn Austin always includes an underlying stream of faith messages in her stories but it is never "preachy", just more like real people exploring faith from their own perspectives. The narrator was very good at providing appropriate voices and accents to each character. I would listen to more books by this narrator.

Connection with WWII was so nice!
I loved listening to this book. This has a lot of WWII facts. I just celebrated with our nation the 75th anniversary of Victory of D-Day. I found out my uncle was in the “second wave”. This book was very intriguing and at times very emotional! A very good book!!
