Publisher's summary

Emma Gavin writes best-selling novels about werewolves, but that doesn't mean she believes in them - and she certainly doesn't think she'll meet one. But that's exactly what happens when her books catch the attention of a rich and powerful pack of Manhattan Weres who have kept their existence hidden for centuries. Alarmed by the accuracy of her novels, they're determined to find out if a renegade is acting as her informant.

Aidan Wallace, the pack leader's son and heir, knows he's the wolf for the job, but when he gets close to Emma, they are both surprised by an attraction too strong to deny. To surrender to it, Aidan will have to risk everything -i ncluding the security of the pack he's sworn to protect.

LUKEWARM LISTEN

If you want a lighthearted cute listen that will carry you along with a sweet plot then this is your kinda book. It was an enjoyable listen, from the start the werewolf was already attracted to Emma (the author of romance books about, what she thought was fictional, werewolves) and he could 'smell' her attraction to him. It was a budding building romance of "he can't...." "he mustn't...." "he shouldn't of...." and finally "he's happy he did....". There was no real nasty baddies just a couple fighting their forbidden attraction to each other. However, I thought the ending seemed very rushed.

This wasn't a 'fast-forward' listen or a 'stop listening' book and I have already downloaded the other books in the series so I'll give them a try.

Not great.

I was disappointed in this book. I haven’t read any other titles from Vicki Lewis but I really expected more. I was mostly disappointed in the way the book ended. I felt like the book was missing a few chapters. I don’t think I will be listening to this book again.

Good Fun Romance Story

This is a cute story. Not great but entertaining and and keeps you listening. The main character can be a little frustrating, but over all it is a fun, light read. I did go on to purchase the other books in the series.

Breezy

This is not a hardcore werewolf book in any way. You won't get a lot of tense "what will happen next?" moments out of this book. It's a book you can relax into. It's very light on drama. The "villein" is a spoiled brat who can barely be classified as an adult, and consequently lacks that "edge" that most bad guys in books have. The sex scenes are pretty tame compared to most paranormal romances I've read, but they are still fairly explicit. Just perhaps not quite as much detail.

I thought it was a sweetly told love story with no high drama or tension. The perfect read if you want to stay vaguely interested without getting too excited. Really, I read a lot of intense stuff, so it was like a sunny day on the beach rather than a thrilling day at the amusement park.

Somehow, I had gotten the impression that this book was going to be humorous. Perhaps it was the light-hearted cover art. It didn't, however, particularly tickle my funny bone, but in hindsight, I don't think it was meant to. That was just my impression, and that impression was erroneous.

Abby Craden did a spectacular job with the narration. I could not find one single thing wrong with her performance. In fact, I barely thought about the narration during the entire book, which is, in it's own way, the sign of a brilliant narrator.

So if you like paranormal romance and you're looking for something to take the edge off, but don't want to commit too much emotional energy into your next listen, this book would be the book for you.

Dull

The heroin was whiny and the hero dull. Couldn't finish it. I'll stick with Molly Harper.

An ok read

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Probably not this book, I found it slow in the beginning and then rushed at the end.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

ending seemed a little rushed

Which character – as performed by Abby Craden – was your favorite?

hmmm not sure

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

No, I kind of tuned out in parts

Any additional comments?

Although I wasn't captivated by this book I do love Vicki's "nerd" series so I thought I would give this one a try and I will probably try to read the others in this series just to see if they get better, but I think I will skip purchasing the audio and use my credits on other books.

Cute story, that turns into a plentiful love story

This book has it all, Family, History, Love, Drama, Suspense, Mystery, the best part is the passion! The heroine is this feisty, yet laid back book author, that writes fictional books on werewolves. She has no idea, what she has. Gotten herself into. I Listened to this book in one day. I couldn't stop! It was that good. A must listen! Can't wait to read the next!

Why?

I have found many of the Paranormal books to be Good stories with a number of unneeded sex sceens thrown in. This book was the other way around. One long bad sex sceen with a little bit of story thrown in.

Very little to endear the characaters to the reader. No in depth personalities. How can one have romance without a personality?

There's quite a bit of decent paranormal stuff out there (Molly Harper, Charlaine Harris, MaryJanice Davidson, ...). Use your credits for those ....

I enjoyed this enough to buy the next books

Would you consider the audio edition of A Werewolf in Manhattan to be better than the print version?

I'm not sure you need to listen to them in order this was visually descriptive about what the characters see more than the others I thought. I bought it on a sale for half price and was moved to buy the second. I enjoyed the second book even more but all have been a fun listen.
