Story
A heartwarming, uplifting village romance for fans of Holly Martin, Tilly Tennant and Cathy Bramley. Buying a thatched cottage in the country may not be the usual cure for a broken heart. But after Clara Maxwell finds out her boyfriend and best friend have been sneaking around behind her back, packing her bags and leaving everything in London behind feels like it's the only way forward. When Henry Garnett, her (rather handsome) new contractor, turns up with his little daughter Pansy and a van shaped like a cottage in tow, she isn't sure whether to laugh or cry.

Lacks substance
What a disappointment! This story lacks substance, is predictable, and was really annoying! The main character continually jumps to stupid conclusions, the plot is simple, the dialogue is trite.
Disappointing because I've liked other books by this author.

DRAMA??
The narrator of this book is FANTASTIC! If it were not for her I would have shut it off long ago. The book is just too much drama for one womans lifetime. It just gets tired and too fantastic just one drama after another. Nothing seemed to flow. It just pops up with no prior history or warning....

Very entertaining
“A Taste for It” was a most enjoyable read. I enjoyed it very much; it was light and entertaining. It was a good blend of the Clare Valley wine country in South Australia and County Clare in Ireland with wonderful characters and good humour. I am keen to read more Monica McInerney novels.

Disappointing
I really struggled to keep going and couldn't finish. So disappointing when I have truly enjoyed the earthy realism of Monica McInerny's other works. The story line was thin. The main character was a superficial bore.
Melissa Eccleston's Irish and American accents were awful. Give me Ulli Birve any day.
Sorry, this one seemed like a rush job to me.
