Publisher's summary

Braith of the Darkness likes going through life unnoticed. Not an easy task for a She-dragon of royal descent. But the evil plots of her father are turning her quiet, boring life upside down, and she has now become the enemy of the most vicious queen her kind has ever known. But for once, Braith won't have to fight alone. Not when the warrior dragon of her dreams is willing to risk everything to save her neck.

Addolgar the Cheerful wishes he could say he's helping the pretty royal strictly for honorable reasons - but he'd be lying. It's not his fault, though! He didn't tell Braith of the Darkness to have the most delicious tail he's ever seen! Yet before Addolgar can get his very strong claws on that tail, heads are going to roll. Just hopefully not theirs.

Very nice novella

Really enjoyable story. Light hearted and funny but with lesser known characters. Once again a great book

Very good story/addition to the series :D

4 stars

This was a very good story. I liked that the hero, Addolgar, is the son of Ailean & Shalin, the MCs from Can't get Enough from Everlasting Bad Boys (Dragon Kin 0.1)

Braith of the Darkness is a dragoness that prefers to go unnoticed. She's of royal blood but doesn't like the royal's political games so she pretends to be uninteresting so no one will pay attention to her. Braith's mother died a while back and her father has never had a use for her so she's been on her own and able to trust no one.

Addolgar is a dragon warrior in service to the Queen (of the dragons) along with pretty much his whole clan. His clan is large and boisterous and full of great fighters that make others hesitate to take them on. They're also very loyal so if you take on one of them, you better be able to take them all on. Addolgar is a good male but a bit on the thick side at times.

Braith and Addolgar both get called to the capital and end up in an audience with the Queen. Braith gets forced into being s female companion to another female dragon being escorted home. Addolgar is assigned to be in charge of escorting them safely. While Braith is usually more standoffish with most people, she is excessively shy with Addolgar...because she's been crushing on him for a while. It's rather funny because when Addolgar's sister happens to ask him what he thought of Braith's looks, he said that he couldn't judge them because she'd never raised her head to look him in the eye. Thankfully, this trip forces Braith to get past her shyness around Addolgar and gives them a chance to get to know each other.

The time for them to get to know each other ends up being a very good thing because this was not an insta-love at all, it takes them a while to get there. There were a few times in the beginning when Addolgar seemed a bit ambivalent about Braith and made me question them as a couple. However, with more time together and the hardships they had to face, Braith comes out of her shell more and more and Addolgar finds her more and more attractive. There is some political intrigue in the story that puts Braith at risk and Addolgar and his family step in to help her out. It takes some time and effort but things do get settled nicely in the end, allowing Braith and Addolgar to begin a HEA together.

This was a very enjoyable story. I liked Braith, especially once she reconnected with her kin and started letting out her inner warrior and becoming more sure of herself. Addolgar was a good guy but he could be a bit thick at times. Overall, I liked the characters and the story was very good and engaging so I'd recommend it. :)

* note - My one complaint about the audio is that while the narrator did alright at Addolgar's voice, sometimes it came across a little halting and/or stiff. It wasn't bad enough to ruin the story but it's something to keep in mind.

Story of Addolgar and Braith in early days

This story fills in some of the early days of the main story line. As usual for these stories, the dragons are conceited, arrogant and really funny. Some other reviewers have said the narrator's is way too light and cheerful for this story, but I found that after a bit, the narrator was skillful enough for me to become totally immersed in the story.

An awesome prequel to the Dragon Kin series…

I love these trips back in time where we get to see some of the older family members more in-depth! I love this series!

Inclusive, action filled paranormal love series!

A world with 2 suns with dragons that shift into humans & humans have cultures & groups not by races but, by regions that war with each other. Petty "GODS" influence humans to entertain or cause trouble among humans..The characters in this story are scarred, strong females in there later years. Some are warriors, some are scholars but, all are NOT the typical young 20 something damsel in distress. Most are WOMEN in there later years that have been oppressed or "used" by individuals of power. The women have different shapes & skin tones & talents. THIS IS A GREAT SERIES OF STORIES with some erotic sex & pairing in it.. BRAVO BRAVO..

Oy!

These are so much fun to read. I don't usually laugh out loud when I read a book and I hate cutesy books but all her series are so much fun to read. This was no exception. Loved it. One of these days I'm going to read the whole series over again. It's so much fun.

5 years later and this time in audio and it's still a 5 star. :) Very good narration

For the type of book

I can see where the writer was going with this the narrator did a good job of portraying the dragons so if you look beyond it’s an enjoyable story

💛

I loved this series of books. Well written, short but ahhh so enjoyable. Absolutely hilarious. Young lady did a great job narrating this book. Addo and Briath made a wonderful couple. They sure had a great deal of children hahaha.

Funny

Charming, goofy but lovable characters make this a fun listen and great getaway. No angst, but not predictable either, you’ll be entertained and have a few chuckles while escaping reality.
