What if falling in love meant almost losing everything?

Where does a moderately popular internet star who never leaves her house look for potential suitors? Online. Tinder, Bumble, Match.com, OkCupid - I tried them all. My 31-year-old self clicked and swiped her little heart out, leading to more dates than I could count, and more disappointment than I was prepared for.

Maybe you can relate. Maybe you know all too well the perils of modern dating. But let’s say, eventually, you meet someone. You think to yourself, “Wow, they’re perfect! Take me off the market, put a ring on it, knock me up, the whole enchilada, because they are ‘the one.’” Let’s also say that they “feel the same way” about you. Your life starts to make sense! All the pain, heartbreak, and frustration from past failed relationships was worth it. Slow clap.

That’s how I felt about Milos. He was from Europe, a doctor, wealthy, athletic. He had an accent and a dog. Milos was textbook marriage material. For him it was “love at first sight”, but for me, it was “anxiety on every date”. Something was telling me to run - but for two years, the only running I did was straight into his arms.

If only I would have listened. This isn’t a love story. It’s my story of survival.

Entertaining and insightful!

I loved that this story was told as if we were living it with Brittani. Telling it in this way makes it easy for people who haven’t been in abusive relationships to understand how so many women find themselves falling for these people and stuck in the abusive cycle. I was also conned by my first love, not to the this extreme but women need to be more aware to protect themselves! This is an entertaining story and good audiobook!

Unbelievable!

I was a fan of Brittani from the start of her Youtube career. I lived for her videos with Shane Dawson where they acted as Miley and Manders. She always seemed like the sweetest girl ever and I would have never suspected her to end up with a psychopath. I mean beside being sweet, she seemed to be a pretty smart girl. However, her story just proved that even the sweetest and smartest of girls can be played by a guy that seems to be the perfect prince charming. This is a great cautionary tale for anyone out there who is currently dating. Remember to take precautions at all times and do not stay in a toxic relationship at all. The reason why I gave it 4 stars is because the way she would read certain sentences irritated me. For example, when she would get at the end of sentences she would read them in a way that did not indicate it was the end of that clause. It seemed like it was a dependent clause and there was going to be more but that was not the case. She would also put emphasis on some words that did not need to be emphasized, so it sounded awkward. Overall, I would recommend this book to anyone. It is an enjoyable book with a great moral.

Amazingly Sick Realationship!

I was engrossed in the story and couldn't wait to hear what would happen next throughout most of the book. The ending was almost beyond belief but very satisfying. I felt I knew the author by the time it was finished. The character of her boyfriend was well drawn - if this were a novel I would have said he was not credible but he obviously really existed.. The entertainment value was great - too bad it really happened, but the author was very candid and seemed to have survived it very well. I wish I could say more but don't want to spoil the suspense, which was strong.

The narration was perfect in my opinion - for one thing, it was the actual voice of the person who had these incredible experiences. It made the listening experience authentic in a way no professional narrator could.

Highly recommended. If this review helps you decide to read it, I'm glad. If not, you are missing an amazing story. Either way, please indicate if you found this review helpful so I can improve my efforts. Thanks!

Moving

Been watching BLT since 2010 and I’m so proud that she was so brave to speak up.
The book is well written and like everyone else, I couldn’t stop reading(in this case, listening)
I have the hard cover copy and will share the book to my younger siblings so they (hopefully) wont make the mistakes BLT did and if they do, they do whatever possible to get out!
Thank you for sharing your story with all of us, Brittani!

LOVE THIS STORY -- so proud of Brittani

I've been a fan of Brittani's for a long time! Since she was doing videos with Shane... I also got pregnant the same year as her... my baby was due Feb 2017, so when she was posting videos of her Pregnancy and her relationship I could TOTALLY relate... Especially since I got pregnant with my then NEWLY boyfriends... an oopsie doopsie but literally the best decision of my life.. I could relate but then not relate because my boyfriend (now husband) ended up being the best spouse and father to my baby and I. Tore me up reading about how terrible everything ended up for her... And her mom, just because you could be watching the vlogs and see her in the background...

The book was fantastic, I wish it was fairy tale because brittani derserves that but her story will help a lot of people in the same circumstances. Loved her audible narration too!

Loved this book!

inspiring. Brittani's strength and love is amazing. Her ferocity for her sons safety and her own wellbeing is empowering and I hope it helps people realize that they have the power to re-write their own sucky love story.

Great Memoir

It’s was a great memoir!! Had me guessing what happened? Did he die? was he killed? Her voice irritates me at first, a bit annoying, but it grew on me. Overall this book was fantastic!! I don’t regret the purchase.

Necessary read!

Listened to the audiobook on my flight home to LA, definitely worthwhile. Although I'm still not a fan of the book cover (the marketing of the book in general), I can still appreciate the content. It's an easy read and well paced. I'd recommend it to anyone who's new to the dating scene, or anyone who's been taught to believe staying is the only option in a relationship.
