Publisher's summary

Watson spends half his wound pension on the turf and his gambling addiction renders him unable even to pay his half share of the rent of the rooms at Baker Street.

But when one of his rare bursts of prosperity enables him to buy two strikingly good pictures from a pawnbroker, Mycroft Holmes takes a remarkable interest. And what is the meaning of the little rhyme that runs round the canvas of the painting.

A trail through London taking in the Holy Land and a right royal mystery.

Good Holmes & Watson story

In a Study in Black and Orange, Watson’s financial problems and reversals, put him in possession of a set of pictures from a pawnbroker. Mycroft takes an interest after something is discovered during the reframing of the pictures. This is another engaging story by Orlando Pearson. The narration by Jeith Spilsbury is very good. The characters and story come to life. I received a free audiobook code for my honest review.

An inside look

The story, as always, well written by Pearson, explores Watson’s financial status as an invalided military man. How did he get their phones to set up a successful medical practice?

Excellent

Orlando Pearson is the new Conan Doyle. An excellent Holmes tale worthy of the master himself.
