Publisher's summary

How to achieve financial stability, without working overtime, even if you're drowning in debt.

Are you kept up at night worrying about your finances? Wondering how you’re going to make that paycheck stretch over the entire month?

America's Debt Help Organization estimates that 87% of people aged 36 to 44 are in debt. Even more shockingly, though, the average personal debt in December 2018 for this age group was $135,768.

However, what’s even more frightening are the situations that we cannot predict. If there is one thing that people have learned from the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s that we can never fully predict what is going to happen. In December 2019, who would have predicted that only a few months later, millions of people across the world would lose their jobs? For that exact reason, having savings to catch you when you fall is absolutely essential.

In A Spender’s Guide to Saving, you’ll discover:

  • The psychological reasons behind why we spend, save and accrue debt
  • The quickest and most effective ways to pay off your debt
  • How to keep credit as your best friend rather than your worst enemy
  • The most effective tools for tracking your spending
  • Why you aren’t currently making your money go as far as it can
  • The best action to take with the money that you have saved
  • Three detrimental mistakes that people make when trying to save
  • The safest investment options for new investors

In the UK alone, 39% of adults do not feel confident managing their money. This is because it is not a skill that we are taught from a young age and, therefore, the burden falls upon us to educate ourselves.

If you're committed to achieving the financial goals you set for yourself and ready to leave the sleepless nights behind, download your audiobook now!

Practical tips on saving

The book uses many practical examples of how to save and at all income levels. Saving is such a simple concept, but not many people seemed to have mastered it. The book starts with stories of people who had difficulty saving. The author does an excellent job of hammering that point home. While I've heard this several times in the past, I like how the author ties it all together in this volume. I learned a lot from this book and recommended it to people who want to try different saving strategies.

Timely and Relevant

It's never a bad time to learn more about saving and increasing financial knowledge! I'm always trying to stay up to date with new methods or just great reminders to keep me moving forward with my goals, and this book is so motivating! There's so much more to how we handle money than just giving it and receiving it. It's deeper than this, and it's all covered here. I liked the narration and the flow of the book. It's super easy to understand and would highly recommend a listen.

Great advice on how to save smart!

As we begin a new year, this book will help set you on the right financial path for 2021 and years to come. I find some of the psychological studies presented in this book interesting and why some people have a higher tendency to spend money. I have read a few books on saving and the aspect that sets this book apart from others is that it does not only tell the listeners how to save and reduce on the necessary spending but what to do with the surplus money. After listening to this book, I am reminded that my insurance renewal is coming up in a week and I should be shopping for a lower rate. Thanks to Mitchell for such a easy to follow and practical financial advice!

Nice audiobook to get out of debt

I like the psychology side of this audiobook (what there is behind saving and spending), I think it helps to understand the financial situation we are in and get a better behavior regarding money.
Of course, you will need to practice and be willing to improve yourself.

Great tips on how to really save

With how easy it is to obtain credit these days, it seems like so many of us are in debt. We have credit card payments, student loans, mortgages — you name it. This book takes us back to the basics by reminding us how important it is to shift from a spending mindset to a savings-based one.

It provides countless helpful tips, including a few I really found useful on reducing or eliminating unnecessary expenses. It also talks about the importance of investing once we’ve finally built up a little bit of savings. I definitely found it insightful, and I think you will too.

The money I saved paid for this book 100x

I am infinitely grateful for finding this gem, buried in the audible hall of fame. The author is very talented, to the point, almost blunt yet perfectly articulates himself. I find the advice in this book to be straight up revolutionary. I started saving hundreds of dollars after listening to this book. My only regret is that I wish I found this book sooner. Can't wait to check out the authors other work!

read my review

the overall book was okay. pretty basic information but still informative. all in all a B+ for the author.
the narrator, on the other hand, made it difficult to finish the book. pausing at the end of a line in the book instead of pausing at a period or some form of punctuation was very annoying. I will probably not listen to another book narrated by this person.
