Bard and fighter Liobhan is always ready for a challenge. So when news arrives at Swan Island that the prince of Dalriada has gone missing after an assault by both masked men and the sinister Crow Folk, she's eager to act.

While Liobhan and her fellow Swan Island warriors seek answers to the prince's disappearance, the bard Brocc, Liobhan's brother, finds himself in dire trouble. His attempts to communicate with the Crow Folk have led him down a perilous path. When Liobhan and her comrades are sent to the rescue, it becomes clear the two missions are connected - and a great mystery unfolds.

What brought the Crow Folk to Erin? And who seeks to use them in an unscrupulous bid for power? Never disappointed with Marillier

Another amazing work. She’s so good at tearing your heart out and then stitching it back up. I’m so excited for Brocc, and Liobhan and Dau are endgame ♥️♥️♥️

Well done!

Well done! The ending of a book can make or brake the whole story. This book has a very good ending.

Another fabulous story

The writer provides details that draw you into the story and characters where you are able to visualize the scene, hear the noises and feel the feelings of the characters.

My only criticism is that it is too short.

Nearly 15 hours long and when it was over I still didn't want the story to end. otherwise loved it including all the tie ins to previous stories/ series! very much look forward to the next one!

Started from the beginning...

I started listening to JM with the Sevenwaters series. from there, I discovered a new world that tested young men and women who grew up under challenging conditions, magic or no. the antagonist and often the protagonist face extenuating circumstances with a dash of magic and lore place JM's literature in a category all it's own. I highly recommend this book.
If you are tentative because you are reading reviews about the quality of the narration, please try to push past it. It is worth it! All of the characters that I now know as friends, the ones that are my favorite characters of all, are the ones that I wasn't sure if I could stand to listen to at first. Please ignore the negative reviews about narrators.
This book was much much lighter than book two(of the warrior bard series). Oh boy, book two got a little cringe-worthy for a bit. Totally worth it as it strengthens our bonds with the characters. However, this book lightens things up a notch or two.
I was pleased with the addition of another female trainee at Swan Island. I was also pleased to finally have another appearance of Conmail.
This book is fantastic. I cannot wait for the next trickle down in the tale. What way will JM go with the story next? Whatever path she decides to lead us down, I'll follow, and I know it will be magical!

Unparalleled storytelling

Occasionally difficult to follow. The story line was so complicated That it must be listened to very intently In order to Keep up. There were so many characters that the narration Was hard pressed to differentiate between the different voices. Could get confusing at times. I found I had to Backtrack whole chapters in order that I did not miss any pertinent plot points. The story of the crow people was not entirely clear, at least to me. On the whole, however, I did enjoy The story. I'm looking forward to any more books concerning the swan island warriors, particularly The continuing story of Dau And Liobhan.

Wonderful conclusion to the Warrior Bard Series

I have always enjoyed Juliet Mariller’s series, starting with Sevenwaters. This story is the conclusion of the bard warriors series, which could be considered a sequel series to the Blackthorn and Grim series. The story follows the spirit of the series, following “A Harp of Kings” and “A Dance of Fate”. There are some ties or stories that could close tighter, but overall, I’m impressed with the sense of conclusion, the happiness for particular characters and their endings, and the long term conflict concludes. Lovely story following the nature of Marillier’s story telling. I hope there will be a new story following Dau’s and Liobahn’s story some time in the future. I will always want to know more! ♥️
