Publisher's Summary

He only wants her, but she wants so much more - something all the money in the world can’t buy.

Raul tried to outrun grief from his father’s passing on the Formula One race track, but it proved to be a race he couldn’t win. Hiding behind a mask of charisma, he went through life pretending everything was okay. Only when he fell head-over-heels for Marie and met her new foster-son was he forced to confront the pain festering inside. Marie knows she was meant to be a mother. Raul doesn’t know if he has what it takes to be a father. Little Sam needs them both.

Love the timing of this story

I really enjoyed the basis of this story line. This is after the couple gets together and are in a working relationship. They have to overcome some pretty big obstacles. It was an enjoyable story to listen to. The narrator did a good job.

Letting go of the chains of the past

Despite being a billionaire and living "the high life," Raul was held fast by the past. Unable to forgive himself for a mistake he'd made when younger, he keeps his heart hidden away until he meets Marie.

While he opens his heart enough to let her in, like a clamshell, he wants to keep the two of them locked away in their own little world. But Marie comes from a big Italian family and wants a family of her own. The question is, will she have to choose between a life with Raul or the life she wants?

I found it a little challenging to connect with these characters, but overall the story was good. A series of decisions made alone teaches Raul and Marie the power of making choices together. And overall the story was fine. Marie plays a bit of a stereotypical loud Italian, and I found the stereotype a bit of a turn-off. Perhaps better suited to RomCom than sweet romance.

But overall, the story was good. And I can definitely recommend it to other listeners.

Forever love!

This is my first Kristen Iten book, and I thoroughly enjoyed the story. It features Raul, the billionaire, realizing there is more to life than just being alone. When he is with Marie, he is happy and finds life is better. Marie is a school administrator and the one thing she wants to do is be a mother. Adding her name to the foster care system, she unexpectedly gets a child right away, and now Sam is part of her package. Will Raul take to this change? Will their relationship be able to include Sam? There is a lot to be said about this book. Iten gives us characters with depth and maturity, in their 30's that truly care about each other. Raul and Marie's issue is not because of his wealth, or because of her desire to be a parent. But they need to figure it all out, and their path is not easy. I love this about the book, as life does not always have quick solutions. And with the addition of Sam in the story, my heart was captured and I was in love!

Lorana Hoopes brings this story to life with her voices. She has a remarkable way of finding the essence of the characters and bringing their personalities out. I enjoy her performances and this one was exceptional.

A collision of hearts

Raul and Marie are attracted to each other and quickly connect. Unfortunately, they don't communicate quite as well, and that leads to conflict. Raul is still enjoying living the good life, and wants Marie to enjoy it with him. However, Marie longs to be a mother & has been seeking to foster a child. The characters discover some things, including about themselves, on their way to their happily-ever-after, and it makes for a very satisfying story

*Clean romance level: sweet kisses, nothing graphic

[The narrator has a pleasant voice and does a great job with the story]

Nice clean romance

This story is different from most as you join the love interests three months into their relationship. It was a nice clean romance. It didn’t have me gripped but it was gentle enjoyable read.
