Publisher's Summary

THE SERIES WITH OVER A MILLION BOOKS SOLD

The fourth book of the bestselling A Shade of Vampire series!

"A Shadow of Light is by far the best book in the series yet. I would absolutely recommend this book a thousand times over!" (Pink Fluffy Hearts Reviews)

"A Shadow of Light throws you right into the heart of the Shade of Vampire series." (TeenBlurb)

"A riot among the humans. A siege at the port. A kingdom on the brink of civil war while still facing the threat of an attack from outside forces at any moment."

Since the implosion at The Oasis and Derek's stay at Hawk Headquarters, The Shade has fallen into a state of utter chaos. To make matters worse, the citizens of Derek's kingdom have become suspicious of his loyalties and accuse him of siding with the enemy... At a time when Derek desperately needs full cooperation from his subjects, they wish to put their own King on trial.

Meanwhile, Sofia is being held hostage by the hunters. They are determined to rid her of her infatuation with the vampire. She submits to the strict routine and training they impose on her, but the only fuel that keeps her going is the thought of reuniting with Derek - something Reuben is fighting with every fiber of his being to ensure will never happen.

...Until one day, out of the blue, Reuben appears to have a change of heart and comes to Sofia with a proposal; a solution that she never dreamed possible. A solution that would fulfill her heart's deepest desires and secure her and Derek's future together, forever.

But can she really trust this man who is so renowned for his hatred of vampires? Does she even have a choice?

Good, but...

What did you like best about A Shadow of Light? What did you like least?

Well, the frist book of the series was exciting, but on the sequels the story is going to get slow and a little boring. In this forth book, there are some great moments, but there are others no so atractive. On the end of the book, the story gets a little exciting again.

Would you be willing to try another book from Bella Forrest? Why or why not?

Yes, after all, I want to know what will happen after what happen on the final moments of Shadow of Light.

Did the narration match the pace of the story?

Yes, everyone was great.

Do you think A Shadow of Light needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?

Yes, because there are questions to be answered.

Another good story in this YA vampire tale

Book four takes us to the heart of the story. Dereks sister has been saying since the beginning that they are stronger together than they are apart. This audio shows that in great detail. The humans of the shade start a revolt as we are introduced to more characters. We learn more of Sofia‘s dad and what they’re willing to do at Hawk headquarters in order to rid the world of vampires. The big question is can Sofia’s dad be trusted or is he truly a hunter down to the core?

Another decent installment

I did enjoy this book in Sophia and Derek’s story but it is definitely not as high on the heat scale as indicated. I expected a bit more on the romance side!

Not my favorite

Out of the books in the series that I’ve read so far, this one is my least favorite. Didn’t like the ending opposed to the way the last one ended. The last one made me want to hurry up and get the next book so I could find out what happens, this one made it seem like it was over. We will see how the next one is though.

Character voices

The story is great. Would of got more stars from me but, Emma Gavin is not the right voice for Sophia. Her voice sounds more like a young man's. It is very monotone. Makes me want to just read the other stories and not listen. The other actors are terrific.

Not my favorite...

While I am really enjoying the series, this was not my favorite book.

I found that it was slow in places, basically dragging us along waiting for something to grab us and pull us back in. There were also a number of different pov's in this book and it was occasionally confusing as to which story we are reading. Jumping between past and present and different pov's made for a story line you had to pay close attention to instead of it just flowing from beginning to end.

I found Sofia a bit annoying in this one... do you consider them your parents or not? One minute she hates them and the other she's bending to their will because she loves them. Make up your mind. I mean really, how many times can someone wrong you before you wise up and move on?

This whole book just seemed to be background on characters and lots of filler with a few clues as to the direction of the next book and some small twists that weren't all that exciting. Even the cliff hanger we are left with was lack luster this time.

With that said, I will be continuing on with the series.

A little disappointed with the ending

Derek and Sofia are deep in the heart of hunter territory. Her father, the leader of the hunters, wants nothing more than to kill the man Sofia loves, and her mother wants her dead. Back at the Shade, Derek’s father is brewing rebellion and the vampire clans are threatening war. Then there’s also the fact that Sofia is immune, and Derek has had a taste of her blood. Will the two star-crossed lovers ever find true sanctuary?

I had this one pegged as another five star, brilliant addition to the series…until around about the last chapter. The entire scene with Boris knocked the series down a rating or two for me. Every book has been building Derek into the warrior who would give his life to protect Sofia - and then he just stands back and let’s her get taken and beaten…This was completely out of character and disappointed me. The introduction of the ‘original’ seemed so haphazard and last minute too, like the author needed to quickly insert a reason to write the next novel.

The rest of the novel was quite good, actually. I enjoyed the mind games and detailed backstories of the supporting characters, especially Ingrid. The various POVs, once again, provided a unique and effective way to tell this story. I love the fact that Ms Forrest does not just allow you to write the villains off as ‘bad’. She provides enough backstory to make it difficult to hate any of the characters, no matter how devious they may appear.

There was a definite move ‘outwards’ in this novel from the nucleus of Derek and Sofia’s relationship. Many of the ‘minor’ characters evolved, and there was still some lovely character development, most notably with Claudia and Gregor. The theme of ‘good wins out over evil’ was nicely carried with these two characters.

I’ve loved this series from book 1, but must admit that the last chapter really put a spoke in the wheel for me. I’m honestly not sure if I will continue the series.

Unbelievable

One of the top Audible Audiobooks I have listen to. I love 'The Shade of Vampire' to begin with, but listening to them brings them to life. The narrators to the book justice and why really make you feel like your live the life of Sofia, Derek and Ben.
My favourite part of this audiobook was when Sofia Claremont returns to The Shade to find Derek taking revenge on Ashley because his beloved twin sister had been captured by the hunters.
My Favourite character was Sofia, narrated by "EMMA GALVIN".
Yes, I couldn't stop listening to it. LOVED IT...! x

enough with the overuse of the word 'thus'!!!

while I like the idea of the overall storyline in this series the books so far have their fair share of inconsistencies and annoyances, for example, vampires have heartbeats - since when? and the seriously irritating overuse of the word 'thus'.

this book however takes the biscuit in the ridiculous - SPOILER ALERT -

the top secret high tech hunter base doesn't have any cctv so don't catch ether Derek trying to turn Sophia or Aiden doing the do with Ingrid?! oh no wait- now they do have cameras and can see and hear the newly cured Ingrids converations- no wait again - when she tries to kill herself they magically can't see or hear her again!!! this is just one example in an endless stream of utter ridiculousness! forget not fact and sense checking your story as the series progresses, this author doesn't even bother in the same book! shocking this got published with such outrageous plot holes!

As much as I liked the overall storyline idea and was intrigued to see where it led, I just can't subject myself to anymore of this. it's actually insulting to the readers to think they won't notice this stuff!
