Publisher's Summary

THE SERIES WITH OVER A MILLION BOOKS SOLD

The highly anticipated third book of the A Shade of Vampire series!

"Bella Forrest never ceases to amaze me! ... A Castle of Sand is the best yet, in my opinion... Once I started to read this story I couldn't help but be captivated, the world Bella Forrest has brought to us is EPIC." (Lady Amber's Reviews)

What Sofia has with Derek feels like a sandcastle; temporary and something that the waves of life and time will soon ruin...

Since the return of Gregor Novak, the island has turned several shades darker. His hatred toward Sofia and thirst for fresh blood lead to a brutal war igniting between father and son.

Meanwhile, the hunters are gaining formidable strength and resources by the day; they know that the safety of The Shade hangs entirely on its ability to remain hidden from them.

And a sinister secret lies in wait for Sofia within the bowels of an Egyptian desert ... a secret that threatens to crush her sandcastle much sooner than she could have expected.

Ugh. The narrators...

Okay, am I the only person who feels like the girl who voiced Claudia should have voiced Sofia? I can't stand the constant up-ending of every sentence read by Sofia's character. And don't even get me started on Ben... I might just be reading the rest of the series....

Love the book but the narrators overdo it

I love this series, even though it is getting pretty expensive at this point.
The narrators overdo it..a lot. They sound like they are always in pain or angry even when the scene is a happy one.

Better with each book

The third in the Shade of Vampire series, A Castle of Sand finally got my attention beyond listening to Zachary Webber (I swear he could read the instructions for an enema and I'd listen). The story got some real (pun intended) teeth into it with the solidification of the relationship between Derek and Sofia, Ben's coming to his senses, the intrigue with Sofia's family and the Maslins, the threat to the Shade and direction the next book will go. It has taken my a bit to get used to the cast of narrators but darn, I really like it--adds so much depth to the book and makes it come to life more. I look forward to the next one; it's already downloaded and ready to roll.

Darker the story turns

Castle of sand is the perfect title for this Audio. I love the symbolism of how beautiful a sand castle is until the waves crash upon it. That really speaks to the spirit of the story. Audio number three definitely goes a little darker. Sofia and Derek face even bigger challenges and you get to meet more of the supporting characters and their back stories. The narration was very good. My only complaint was the narrator for Lucas. I don’t know why he has a accent or if it’s the time period he’s supposed to be originally from but it seems so out of place and every time he speaks, it throws the whole Audio off for me. Spoiler alert... book four should be Lucas free.

Hate Sophia’s voice

I cannot stand Sophia’s voice. I hated this narrator for the Divergent series too. It is grating and annoying.

Overacted-Beginning to bore

I want to love it..but it is starting to bore me.

Best actor is the one who plays Derek. He's awesome.
Sofia is okay.
The rest breathe heavy and over act.
Every word and sentence is too dramatic.

I think I will stop this series now.
It just drones on and on... and I'm losing interest. It has great potential...

Derrick

I feel like Derrick is abusive. His actions make me not want to read the next book.

Getting better

The beginning of the series was slow but I stuck with it and I'm glad that I did. I can't wait to read the next book.

I gave up! I don't think this series is for me afteral.

I listened to book 1 and 2 in this series and thought it was ok so I thought I'd listen to book 3. It is alright but I was starting to get bored so rather than waste time I've decided to give up and move on to a different book altogether. I don't think this series is for me afteral!

I liked the first two...

I don’t expect a lot from these, they’re my guilty pleasure, but the writing in this one was especially sloppy, especially towards the end. A lot of dead ends and dialogue where the same sentence was repeated consecutively about 3 times. I don’t read these expecting great literature but compared to the first two it was severely lacking in substance. It sounds like the author had about 3 things she wanted to accomplish and was having trouble getting from A to B to C so the buildup was fine but result felt very underwhelming. Hopefully the next one will be better.
