Story
When Michael Pollan set out to research how LSD and psilocybin (the active ingredient in magic mushrooms) are being used to provide relief to people suffering from difficult-to-treat conditions such as depression, addiction, and anxiety, he did not intend to write what is undoubtedly his most personal book. But upon discovering how these remarkable substances are improving the lives not only of the mentally ill but also of healthy people coming to grips with the challenges of everyday life, he decided to explore the landscape of the mind in the first person as well as the third.

Do you remember the time when people thought marijuana was nothing else but a hallucinogenic drug? Now, components of the marijuana plant are being used with great success in treating chronic diseases. Magic mushrooms are currently going through the same public opinion metamorphosis. A recent study by King’s College in London concluded that psilocybin, an active ingredient in magic mushrooms, could be used safely to treat various mental illnesses, such as depression, PTSD, and anxiety. But why aren’t we hearing more about this incredible discovery?

Fungi provide a key to understanding the planet on which we live, and the ways we think, feel, and behave.

Of all the things humans rely on plants for - sustenance, beauty, medicine, fragrance, flavor, fiber - surely the most curious is our use of them to change consciousness: to stimulate or calm, fiddle with or completely alter, the qualities of our mental experience. Take coffee and tea: People around the world rely on caffeine to sharpen their minds. But we do not usually think of caffeine as a drug, or our daily use as an addiction, because it is legal and socially acceptable.

We are in the midst of a powerful psychedelic renaissance. After four decades of hibernation, the promise of the psychoactive 60s - that deeper self-awareness, achieved through reality-bending substances and practices, will lead to greater external harmony - is again gaining a major following. The signs are everywhere, from the influence of today's preeminent psychedelic thinker Daniel Pinchbeck, to the renewed interest in the legacy of Terence McKenna, and to the upsurge of collective cultural phenomena like the spectacle of Burning Man.

Publisher's Summary
Embark on the ultimate psychedelic voyage with ayahuasca and magic mushrooms!
The word “psychedelic” instantly triggers a negative attitude in most people. We have been trained by media to treat psychedelic compounds as just harmful drugs. But "psychedelic" is a term that describes experiences in which our state of consciousness is broadened. You’ve probably heard about another thing that strives to achieve that. It’s called yoga. Nothing negative comes to mind when you heard that, right?
Psilocybin mushrooms and ayahuasca both contain a psychoactive compound that changes perspectives and make you perceive the world around you in a different way. They have been used for millenniums, not as drugs, but as healing substances. Mushrooms are even depicted in some Stone Age cave paintings, and the ayahuasca brew or tea is still popular among Amazon tribes and shamans.
But the real magic lies in their healing properties. According to scientific research, psychedelic compounds can be used to treat mental illnesses such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, and many others. This bundle is the ultimate guide on these two incredible nature’s gifts and the only thing you need to embark on a quest to self-discovery.
Here’s what you’ll learn:
- The scientific stories behind psilocybin and ayahuasca
- The healing and therapeutic properties of both substances
- Steps to determine the right dosage for different effects
- The legality of mushrooms and ayahuasca
- Ways to use them to treat anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues
- Techniques for getting into a meditative trance
- Common mistakes and accidents to avoid
- Techniques for cultivation of psilocybin mushrooms
- And much more!
There is a safe way to use psilocybin mushrooms and ayahuasca for both spiritual and medical benefits. However, accidents do happen, and we do not recommend the use of these substances!
To start this journey, scroll up and click on the "buy now" button.
Disclaimer: Ayahuasca and psilocybin are two potentially illegal substance, and we do not promote the use of legal or illegal psychoactive substances. This audiobook has the only purpose of being informative.

Poorly Written
Despite the numerous high ratings for this book, I simply point out that the book is very poorly written. It appears to be a collection of blog missives or short postings on the subject of psychedelic drugs. As a result, the author makes the same points over and over again which is maddening for the listener. Do yourself a favor and listen to any number of well-written books on the subject such as "How to Change Your Mind" by Michael Pollan.
As an addendum to my review, please note that virtually all the five star reviews are supposedly written by listeners who have reviewed only this book and one other book. The fact that the same two books, and only those two books, were reviewed by those supposedly disparate reviewers indicates quite obviously that the author of "A Psychedelic Trip" has deliberately trumped up those reviews in an attempt artificially raise the rating for his audio book and mislead the public.

Returned
This audio book has the dubious honour of being the only audio book I've ever felt the need to return.
Having been unable to complete this book, I would feel bad if this review was misinterpreted as berating the authors work which is not my intention. I fully intend to purchase either a kindle or hard copy of this work, but as I am reviewing an audio book I feel I must share my opinion.
Somebody, somewhere produced, edited and published this audio book I'm guessing without ever having heard it. I don't know if this is the narrator's natural way of reading ( in which case, who auditioned him?). Or if he has been coached and or directed to read in this manner, enunciating to the Nth degree and not only punctuated? After? Every? Word? But? Actually? Every? Syl? Ab? Le?
The pitch, inflection ( like every word, or part thereof is a separate question), tone and cadence of the narrator sounds like he was in a studio guessing at the pronunciation of a collection of kids phonics cards and some tech genius gave up his Sunday morning to stitch them together in the correct order with no thought to the audience. It makes the late, great Steven Hawkins early speech software sound as smooth and silky as being hypnotized by Barry White.
If I sound harsh, I'm sorry but I listen to many audio books and was really looking forward to this one, it's a subject of great interest to me and was expecting to be informed, educated and entertained. Not annoyed, aggravated and disappointed. To reiterate I am sharing my opinion on the way the audio book was presented, not the content of the actual book.
