Publisher's Summary

At the age of 40, Desa Rae Jenkins may be classified as over-the-hill, but with voluptuous curves in all the right places, she attracts Roc Dawson, one of the sexiest men alive, who happens to be almost half her age. He excites her like no other man has, but from Roc’s playa-hating uncle Ronnie to the baby-mama drama that comes to her doorstep, Desa Rae is forced to make a decision that could set her free from the man she’s fallen in love with.

The mere thought of Desa Rae ending their relationship sends Roc packing, and he must reevaluate what he has always known as the street life. If he wants to keep this bona-fide diva on his team, he has to make his case for Black love and leave the past behind. Then again, so does Desa Rae, especially when her ex-husband, Reggie, jumps back into the picture, causing more secret skeletons to be revealed.

Honestly I couldn’t stomach the narrator and it ruined the whole story

The narrator was absolutely horrible. It ruined the whole story. I couldn’t get passed it enough to enjoy the story.

Black Love, Is Intense

This audiobook was good. I like the length and the many dysfunctional twist that kept me interested. The performance was good, but I would have love to have had a male voice for the “Rock” character.

The toxicity....

So many levels of dysfunction in this relationship. And they were not compatible. They came from two different worlds which made the story very frustrating to read. The only thing they seemed good at was having sex. She says things to him you just DON'T SAY. AND his narcissism was a lot! I did enjoy some of the mess though cause that did mirror how life isn't always seamless but man oh man... They both need some dang therapy.

3.5 Stars

I like the younger Man/Older Woman storyline but sometimes the Roc Character did some very disturbing things. I don't like that some of his criminal behavior was glossed over or easily forgiven. Roc is a complex interesting character while Desa is likeable but certainly NOT strong as she thinks,

I like the narrator except when she was voicing Roc cause he sounded like a 15 yr old boy, I wish they would've use someone with a more appealing male voice or a male.

I listen to this story before when it was part of the Carl Weber's Full Figured series and I was hoping this narrator would do a better job with Roc's voice but I actually think her Roc voice is worst than the other version.

I tried

The story didn’t go anywhere and the main character, Desiree got on alllll of my nerves. If I had been Rock, I would have left her and never turned back. Nothing he did was right. He couldn’t talk right. His “job” wasn’t right. She mothered him rather than loved him. She was sorely annoying.

Nice story

Great story, but it wore my nerves out! lol Rock was the problem! Des was trying to raise a man and too bad Kmichelle’s song hadn’t come out yet to encourage her to leave that grown boy alone. Whew she got on my nerves letting him make her the bad guy, and constantly letting him walk in and out of her life whenever he chose to.

How to demoralize a woman.

I'm a bit disturbed that a woman that has successfully raised a young man along with ex-husband, allows a man almost the same age as her son demoralize her. unfortunately this book was disturbing to read. its bad enough they procreated and conceived and little girl. For a 40+ woman to throw caution to the wind and deal with someone damn near half her age and allow him to take her through the ringer, baby mama drama, side chicks, a criminal organization, and a crazy ass uncle is disturbing. Des decides to except a man that is controlling, insecure, and abusive "when someone deserves it". this book sends the wrong message to women and teens; Take bull shit from a man/woman because he/she has swag and good sex, and if you beg long enough he/she will settle down, marry you and live happily ever after. The title should have been "Demoralizing For Dummies. This book would have been perfect with a different ending.
