narrator's voice no match for the main character
I'm sorry but the narrator's voice does not match the main character in the story in anyway. The story seemed interesting enough from the start but sadly the listening experience produced mild frustration at best!.... The main character is supposed to be a 30 something female, however it is practically impossible to relax and let images of the interesting young women that is supposed to be telling the story form in your head without simultaneously fighting to distraction to block out the involuntary images automatically produced by the voice of someone sounding closer in age to Miss Marple then lets say any of the leading female characters one might find in a Hallmark mystery movie. The narrator does read well so I'm sure if the character(s) in the story were all near or over 75, I might actually enjoy her performance, but as it is, when it comes to reading the part of a 30+ women, this narrator's cadence and quavering voice all but destroys what should be vibrant images of a fascinating young women caught in the middle of an intriguing mystery.
