When a self-made American man and a most proper English lady meet in Regency London, it's a total clash - and attraction - of opposites.

Nice addition/continuation of book 1. Outside the typical romance the who-done-it added an underlying touch of intrigue. admittedly, I had my suspicions about halfway through to whom the true villain was, but the pace of the story kept my attention.
Meg's apprehensions about marriage among the peerage was spot on from an Americans perspective. Her wanting to be more than her position in society by family blood was totally understandable, yet unacceptable by English standard.
The Nessasary series is an enjoyable listen, that readers of this Genere should try.

just as good if not more than book 1 in series

I truly enjoyed this book. The story was very well written with characters that are alive and entertaining. A regency romance mystery!!!

Narrator: Annie Aldinton is still not one of my favorites but she is improving. I noticed none of the sing song quality that bothered me in earlier performances. She does seem to almost whisper her way through the book though. Softly spoken as if to put a child to sleep..... with that simple correction she would jump towards the top of the list of narrators who truly star in their performances.

Heat Factor: Scorching where it's meant to be....

Creditworthy? YES!

Another necessary book!

Don't spend your points on this, the narrator probably saved this one. what is wrong with these English, they can't keep a secret ? the sex scenes weren't even that good. you have three people privy to the truth (all friends by the way)... all you gotta do is keep your mouth shut. reputation SAVED! miraculously! maybe that is why Americans are so much better as human beings..hummm? the story lost me there. Puke! I have read the same plot in other books so many times before and it is exhausteing. yawn . I time skipped through the last 4 chapters. only thing that kept me interested was the murder whom I figured out way before that.. like I said ..puke! puke ! ok , still puking and puking some more. ok catching my breath... one last gaggg . and hey, Pudding is the actual hero of the story. says something right?I have listened to other Mullins novels and to put it in English terms she is a "milk sop" writer. I am glad I am an audible escape subscriber. I would have been pissed to spend points on this trivel.

been there, done that, kinda story
