Publisher's summary

Stripped of the family so important to his Viking heritage, Matthias Bjork is now on the hunt for his sister. Despite combing the entire Wyoming Territory, he hasn’t found any substantial leads regarding his sister’s whereabouts, but he has discovered a most unusual woman. This woodland nymph who’s come to work for his good friend in the quiet town of Mountain Bluff is like no one he’s ever met.

Opal Boyd has finally found the haven she’s longed for all her life, in a most unlikely place - working for a German couple in this remote Wyoming mountain town. She learned long ago that most men couldn’t be trusted, but when a mountain man stops in the boarding house where she works, he seems to have the respect and affection of the two people she’s learned to trust implicitly. And the more she comes to know Matthias, she struggles not to trust him the same way the others do.

When he shares the magical experience of his family’s traditional Viking Yule celebration, she can’t help but fall a little more in love with him each one of the 12 days of Christmas. But when Matthias’ search for his sister takes an unexpected twist, Opal is forced to make a choice that will alter the course of her life - no matter which answer she chooses. When Matthias’ decisions land Opal in danger, what must he sacrifice to rescue her?

Touching Romance

Opal Boyd has a happy life living and working for the sweet German couple who have come to mean so much to her. She is certainly not looking for a relationship with any man as, in her opinion, most men are not to be trusted, however when she meets Matthias Bjork she feels an attraction she can’t deny. Matthias is determined to try to stay clear of Opal because of the attraction he feels towards her. He is convinced that he is a magnet for trouble and doesn’t want her to get hurt. However God has plans for these two and we soon find out that they are in for a roller coaster ride of a lifetime! The story is filled with plenty of suspense and action as well as endearing moments and emotion. I really enjoyed this heartwarming story and especially loved the fact that the author included “Charmer” in the mix! My only disappointment was that the series seemed to end with no more knowledge of how Zeche and Gretta fared in their new life and how Antonio got along. We only got a sentence or so in the previous book when they arrived at Josiah and Mara’s ranch. Other than that I enjoyed the series and will likely be listening to it over again in the future. Paul Curtis is definitely becoming one of my favorite narrators. He always brings the story to life with his amazing variety of voices and makes the listening experience pure entertainment. OK, BUT.......

Clean and ends well. However, it was hard to really like the heroine who was so naive and gullible and could never see through anyone and was always taken by surprise in almost every situation. The narrator did ok, but as with many Male narrators who try to mimic a female voice, an old toothless man with a nasal voice comes to mind instead of a pretty young female.
