The BRAND NEW scandalously Spicy Regency romance from Emma Orchard!

'If you're girding your loins for Bridgerton, you may want to indulge in this Regency romp' - THE TIMES

She must marry for her family's future. He must never marry at all.

Spring, 1805. Nineteen-year-old Allegra Constantine is under pressure to choose a husband, but none of her suitors inspire her. Lord Milton is respectable but passionless, Sir Harry is charming but witless, and the dangerously handsome Mr Englishby has designs she cannot trust. The only man who truly interests her is Max Severin – cynical, scandal-shadowed, and not at all a suitable prospect.

But when a stolen kiss ignites a fire between them, Allegra realises she is in more danger from her heart than from society's gossip. Because Max carries a secret so perilous, it could ruin them both. And when long-buried truths about Allegra's family and Max's past come to light, the consequences threaten more than her reputation. Torn between duty and desire, Allegra must choose: a safe, sensible marriage… or risking scandal, ruin, and her very future for the only man she has ever truly loved.

Unsuitable Story as Regency Era Romance. First, I much prefer closed door romances. I've previously read several books by this author....choosing to skim past the graphic open door descriptions because (except for that defect) they seemed well-written and interesting. I am an old person born in the 1940s with the values of that era. Next, this book was so unrealistic that it was totally unbelievable as a Regency era story because it contained and tried to blend openly liberal actions and liberal values regarding racial mixing, homosexuality, on top of the rather appalling openness of personal physical activity of the 2020s which did simply not persist in the early 1800s. Open liberal actions and attitudes existing within the culture of the 2020's simply cannot blend with the general culture of the Regency era of the early 1800s. ... (NOTE: such actions and attitudes are not yet even totally accepted by the majority in the modern 2020s era)... I found the blending attempts to be so incredible as to be offensive. I don't think I'll read any more of this author's work.
