Scandal dictates Darcy must propose, and Lizzy must accept. She refuses to rush into a hasty marriage and negotiates for nuptials four weeks from the proposal. Short - Just another Variation

I liked this fine, didn't love it. First off ... one thing that has confused me is the presentation. A compilation? I received the "compilation" (for free in exchange for an honest review) and had no idea why it was called that, but coming to GoodReads for review I see it was originally divided into three parts. Why? It's so short, even with all three parts together. I can only assume it was presented in parts how some books come out in installments and such. I've never been part of the process, and generally try to not even start a series until it is complete.

The original twist here concerns Charlotte ... and I just struggled to see her make such a move. It seems completely out of character (although I do have another book with this premise on my "to read" list). It also was almost irrelevant to this story, just the plot point to force Darcy and Elizabeth together in a compromising situation. THAT was the story, that Darcy and Elizabeth do feel like they have to get married, even though at that point, it's not really what either wants. I am afraid this will fade, and not stand out among all the other JAFF I've indulged in. I do think I liked the tie in with the title, and Elizabeth realizing how quickly it could happen (after judging Jane).

While nothing over the top here, the physical aspects were a little stronger than some JAFF (and the original obviously). Checking out the other titles by this author, it looks like she likes to add a more steamy approach.

I enjoyed the narrator - a perfect British accent, not a voice that stands out too much (sometimes an issue for me with narrators, as I form connections to a voice to a certain story and then struggle to hear those voices in a different book).

Perfect

I was given this free review copy audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review

This a definitely a very good variation of pride and prejudice. The scandals, drama, and trueness to characters. Abbey kept true to Darcy and Elizabeth’s characters. That is what made this book soo worth it. I will definitely be listening to this again.

Sweet Romance

I enjoyed this sweet story, but I must admit I wasn't thrilled with variations to one of my favorite novels. I think Ms. North did a good job of remaining true to the original characters for the most part. I tried to simply enjoy the story and put a cap on my comparison to the original.

Not my cup of tea

This story didn’t work well for me if for no other reason than I couldn’t believe the initial premise of Charlotte acting so scandalously and without that element none of the rest of the book happens.
Parts of the book were enjoyable but not enough to redeem the book for me.
Lots of innuendo. Also, descriptive tongue action kisses that made me roll my eyes. But if you love reading that, you might love the book.
The narrator did a good job though.

Sex: descriptive kissing, innuendo
Language: no
Violence: no

Falls Far Short of the Mark

I received this book for free. I am voluntarily posting this review and any opinions expressed herein are my own.

I confess, I am a P&P junkie and will usually happily pick up any derivation from the original. This one... well, it fell far short of the mark. The characterization of Lizzy was... well, she just wasn't very likeable. The plot of Charlotte taking on a lover and absconding with him is completely inapposite of any characterization of her.

The narrator, Katherine Anderson, did a good job.
