Publisher's Summary

From the best-selling author of The Girls of Mischief Bay and The Friends We Keep comes a twisty tale of family dynamics that explores what can go terribly, hysterically wrong when the line between friendship and family blurs.

Zoe Saldivar is more than just single - she's alone. She recently broke up with her longtime boyfriend, she works from home, and her best friend, Jen, is so obsessed with her baby that she has practically abandoned their friendship. The day Zoe accidentally traps herself in her attic with her hungry-looking cat, she realizes that it's up to her to stop living in isolation.

Her seemingly empty life takes a sudden turn for the complicated - her first new friend is Jen's widowed mom, Pam. The only guy to give her butterflies in a very long time is Jen's brother. And meanwhile, Pam is being very deliberately seduced by Zoe's own smooth-as-tequila father. Pam's flustered, Jen's annoyed, and Zoe is beginning to think "alone" doesn't sound so bad after all.

Friendship isn't just one thing - it's a million little things, and no one writes them with more heart and humor than book club sensation Susan Mallery!

Well ... I finished it

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

The narration was good, but the book itself was boring. I found myself skipping entire chapters because they were so repetitive. I finished it because it was Spring Break and I didn't have another book handy.

Good plot but the sex scenes are pretty graphic

Is there anything you would change about this book?

Sex scenes are too graphic. I had to skip over them because it felt pornographic to me.

What was your reaction to the ending? (No spoilers please!)

Good ending. Everything tied together.

Third time not a charm

I really enjoyed listening to the first two books in this series. They were entertaining, non-taxing and left me wanting more. Not this one, the characters weren't believable and their characterization by the author was filled with redundancy. I will not be seeking the 4th book. It's obvious there isn't anything left in this tank

A little slow

I didn't get fully interested until half way into the book, but I do love Susan Mallory.

Not as good.

This being the 3rd series in the Mischief Bay series wasn't quite as good as the previous 2. This one was a little predictable and almost anticlimactic. I enjoy the series and hope they continue but this has been my least favorite. I did enjoy the adult scene in the book. It was graphic enough to make it adult but not so graphic it makes it erotic.

next

I want to go back and see what happens next. What happened with Nicole. will Zoe's baby daddy really be a part of the baby's life?

An excellent story

One of Susan Mallory’s best. Not too many characters and each is just complex enough without being ridiculous. And Tanya Eby is always a great narrator.

Entertaining

I found the book and the series just what I need in time of difficulty. They and it are uplifting without being to heavy.

Looking forward to continuing the series.
