Publisher's Summary

The Wall Street Journal bestselling series continues as Mercy Kilpatrick becomes embedded in the nightmare of a terrorist conspiracy.

The job: infiltrate a militia amassing illegal firearms in an isolated forest community. FBI agent Mercy Kilpatrick is the ideal candidate. She knows Oregon. She’s near the compound. And having been raised among survivalists, Mercy understands the mind-set of fanatics. Lay low, follow rules, do nothing to sound an alarm, and relinquish all contact with the outside world. She’s ready to blend in.

As Mercy disappears into the winter hills, something just as foreboding emerges. Mercy’s fiancé, Eagle’s Nest police chief Truman Daly, is faced with a puzzling series of murders - three men dumped in random locations after execution-style shootings.

Now, for Mercy, trapped in a culture where suspicion is second nature, and betrayal is punishable to the extreme, there is no way out. No way to call for help. And as plans for a catastrophic terrorist event escalate, there may be no way to stop them. Even if Mercy dies trying.

Masterful!

The fifth installment in the Mercy Kilpatrick series is absolutely fantastic. As with many series this book can be listened to as a stand alone but I would suggest listening to the series in order for continuity.
This book takes Mercy into any sane person's worst radical militia group nightmare. She's sent undercover to replace an ATF agent who became sick just days before she was to enter the compound. Unfortunately for Mercy she could be the agent's double. Once inside her contact is very cloak and dagger leaving Mercy feeling very alone. When he disappeared she finds she really is alone within this group seething with paranoia.
Meanwhile Mercy 's fiancé (Truman) is back in Eagle Rock not knowing where she is or what kind of danger she's in. His job is getting stranger by the day as unidentified bodies start turning up. It's not until a body is identified that the two cases collide.
To make things more interesting Mercy's father has been diagnosed with Parkinson's disease and has decided that maybe he's made some mistakes.

Have mercy, Mercy!

I can’t believe this is the last of Mercy. I could cry but, I’m taking it like a big girl. ;)

I’m a huge fan of this series and the author! It’s one of my absolute favorites and I think, it’s my favorite of all Kendra’s series’s... hard to choose though.

This go round we get to see something a little different and a lot scarier as in the way of what happens around Mercy. Nothing like diving into a pool of sharks head first. It’s one of those stories where I was on her edge of my seat, sticking to the story as it unfolded, word by word. Line by line. My heart raced as tho ha started to unfold and lord have mercy I may have had a couple of heart attacks but it was all worth it.

Mercy has a way of getting herself into trouble and then right back out of it. Where there’s a will, there’s a way. With Mercy on the case the bad guys have a lot to do to stay ahead of the game. I’m the end though.... Mercy will be the last one standing. She may not be standing on her own two feet, but she’s standing.

Amazingly Fantastic

Had the release date marked on my calendar. This series never disappoints. You can't help falling more in love with Mercy & Truman. The action suspense and love is so fantastic. Keeps you on the edge of your seat. At times I would gasped out and talk back to the device I was listening to at the time. I cant get enough of this series. Mercy is 1 tuff FBI agent and Truman's instincts and his close understanding of Mercy is very touching. You will not be disappointed in this book not one bit.

Great narrator

The conclusion of the series was well written. I have thoroughly enjoyed Mercy’s story and I’m sad to see the series come to a close. I did feel like this book was a similar to the last book but other than that it was a great book that kept me wanting to listen to the audiobook. I also enjoyed the narrator. Fabulous work. Hoping that there will be a spinoff series with the teens. Maybe...

A story with a perfect ending

When I started the book I was a bit worried it was going to be the same as all the others but I was definitely wrong. After all Mercy went through to get to this happy ending I was crossing my fingers hoping she would tell Truman that she was going to quit and become a safe housewife.
