Good plot but rushed ending

The story starts out strong but it is under developed. The story tells a good backstory but flips us through the "convenience" leading up to the necessary marriage then almost completely skips the relationship that develops between the couple for their second chance. Wasn't their refound love the point? Where did it go? We missed its growth and instead are punted right into the conclusion which is also a muck up. There is no explanation as how the Admiral came to his conclusion about the jewel theft culprit nor to why he changed his mind on love. Why & how he figured out the marquis remains a mystery to the reader. Then wham we are thrown a few sentences about her career path and it's over. The bones are there but the flesh is missing.

A Second chance at Love

Madeline was helping restoring jewels to a family that were stolen during the spoils of war. She encounters Arthur her first and only love who disappeared from her life over 7 years ago. When Arthur sees Madeline again he realizes something is not right. When they meet again on the same ship and again when she steals the last piece of jewelry to give back. When he catches her she flees. To keep her safe Arthur lies and says Madeline is his fiancé. A wonderful story where misunderstandings, miscommunication and lies finally bring them together in love.
