She knows it’s real because 50 years ago, she and a team travelled there. And only she made it back. Today, caving specialist Mike Monroe leads a crew into the world’s deepest cave in the former Soviet Union.

Story
A journey into the deepest, darkest jungles of the Venezuelan Amazon...and a primeval place and time that mankind was never meant to exist in. Ben Cartwright, former soldier, home to mourn the loss of his father, stumbles upon cryptic letters from the past between author Arthur Conan Doyle and his great-great-grandfather who vanished while exploring the Amazon jungle in 1908. Amazingly, these letters lead Ben to believe that his ancestor’s expedition was the basis for Doyle’s fantastical tale of a lost world inhabited by long-extinct creatures.

Some new ones appeared. Then some things appeared that were monstrous. No one seemed to notice except Ben Cartwright and the other survivors of hidden plateau in the depths of the Amazon jungle. Story
100,000 years ago the object hit the lake at the deepest point, quickly sinking into its mile-deep Stygian darkness. The sheets of ice closed, time moved on and the land forgot. But over the centuries, legends grew of people vanishing, of strange, deformed animals and of an unexplained luminescence down in the lake depths. When Marcus Stenson won the lucrative contract to create a sturgeon fish farm on the site of disused paper mill on the shore of Lake Baikal, he thought he had won the lottery and refused to listen to the chilling folktales....

Publisher's Summary
Plague, famine, and fear grip the United States as war rages across the globe. A single father with a secret of his own, will do anything to give his daughter a better life, but the sacrifice may be greater than anything he could have ever imagined.
Five years after the Chinese Axis detonated an unknown weapon of mass destruction off the southern coast of the United States, Special Ops Sergeant John Crider and the members of Shadow Company have finally captured what they all hope will lead to the end of the war. Unfortunately, the population within the United States is no longer sustainable. In an effort to stabilize the economy, the government enacts the Cryonics Act.
One hundred years in suspended animation, all debt forgiven, and a chance at a less crowded future are too good to pass up for John and his young daughter. Except not everything always goes as planned as Sergeant John Crider finds himself pitted against a land of prehistoric monsters genetically resurrected from the fossil record, murderous inhabitants, and a future he never wanted.

Convoluted Story
Did the narration match the pace of the story?
The narration was good and the artist did well. The only real issue was when he spoke as a young girl. He did men and women fine, but the girl was sqreaching.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
The overall premise was unique and interesting. The story arc was good. The execution simply fell short.
Any additional comments?
The main character suffers from memory loss and the story emulates that. There are jumps and holes that simply make the story confusing. It comes together in the last 15 minutes, but there are too many jumps and coincidences to really support suspension of disbelief.

Very creative story
What made the experience of listening to A Man out of Time the most enjoyable?
The author brought the characters to life. I had Fun listening.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Man out of Time?
I was expecting a time travel dinosaur story into the past, but the author took us into a new approach into the future. Dinosaurs are just a surprise part of the story, mostly good guy bad guy adventure.
Which character – as performed by Sean Lenhart – was your favorite?
The narrator Sean, portrayed all the characters with great enthusiasm. Very clear characterizations and easy to follow.
Any additional comments?
A new author to keep an eye on and I hope for a follow up story... or more creative future adventures. I'll be looking for more great work.

Great Story
I really enjoyed this story. I didn’t think I would like it, I am not into dinosaurs, but this really doesn’t have much to do with dinosaurs. What a great story about what a man would do for his daughter! I would read this book again and again!
