Story
This story is a present day twist on the biblical story of Jacob and his mother Rebecca plotting together against the elderly father Isaac, who is lying on his deathbed, in order to get their hands on the inheritance, and on the power in the family. This is no old fairy tale. Its power is here and now, in each one of us. Listening to Yankle telling his take on events, we understand the bitter rivalry between him and his brother.

Story
Lazarus occupies a surprising position in the Gospel accounts. Widely known as the man Jesus raised from the dead, his story is actually much broader and richer than that. Living as he did at Bethany, near Jerusalem, Lazarus was uniquely placed to witness the swirl of events around Jesus. When Jesus Wept, the first novel in The Jerusalem Chronicles series by best-selling authors Bodie and Brock Thoene, unfolds the turbulent times in Judea during Jesus' ministry, centering on the friendship between Jesus and Lazarus.

Thirteen-time #1 national bestselling author Glenn Beck realized years ago that somewhere along the way, his four children had become more focused on Santa than the meaning of Christmas. No matter how he tried, he could not redirect their attention away from presents and elves to the manger instead. Glenn didn't want to be the Grinch who spoiled the magic of Kris Kringle, so he had to find a unique way to turn his kids back toward the true meaning of Christmas. He decided the best place to start was by first turning Santa himself back toward Christ.

Publisher's Summary
For Earth's first couple, obedience trumps rebellion then leads to redemption.
But what of their children?
Seduced by evil, Cain kills Abel then flees with his sister to the land of Nod. Bereaved of all their children in one day, Adam and Eve are heartbroken...until they see a vision of Abel in paradise with their childhood pets, Lion and Lamb, and Eve finds the strength to wait upon the Lord for His blessing.
Though dead on earth, Abel's soul lives on in paradise, resting and learning from the old cherub who God sent to teach the murdered son of Adam. He listens to the war songs the legions of angels sing that battle for his brother and sister, and even his mother's soul. But best of all, the angel elder tells him stories of Heaven and how one day, man and God will be reconciled.
Again, the first couple is tested and must wait upon the Lord's blessing to begin again. Can they walk in obedience for 70 long years? And Cain's offering is finally accepted, but by whom?
Three parallel storylines offer a new perspective to an age-old story.
- Adam and Eve in Adam's Valley
- Cain and Sheriah on their journey east of Eden to Nod
- Abel in Paradise with visiting angels, including a kindly ancient cherub named Namrel.
At the end of the story, a section called Search the Scriptures helps listeners understand where the author got her ideas for the story and encourages them to do their own searches as well.

Entertaining Story
Ms. McAdoo has written an interesting book based loosely on the Biblical story of Adam and Eve and their children. While I disagree with many of the author's theological conclusions, I found it to be an entertaining and imaginative story. She fleshed out the simple story with possible human emotions and reactions to the issues confronting the first family. Her ideas are fresh and very creative!
The cover of the book doesn't do it justice. It needs a fiery angel or something. :)
This narrator is outstanding. He excels at maintaining the identity of each character, male and female, and moderating the pace of the "action" of the story without overacting. His voice is strong and flexible.

Enjoyable
As a Christian, I understand that this was story is just the author's viewpoint on this subject. That being said, it was both entertaining as well as eye opening. She took Bible truths and added personal thoughts to create an entertaining story. There were moments where I thought, aha! it surly could have happened that way. I think this is a story that most anyone could enjoy reading.
I was given a free audio copy of this book by the author and am voluntarily leaving this review.

A cute story for children of all ages
This is a cute "what if" story that answeres some questions everyone asks, but you have to remember it is the author's thoughts, not fact. I really enjoyed it and could see Cain's thoughts clearly, and feel the loss to Adam and Eve.I could lso see how Cain could have gone toward the land of Nod, but settled outside of it and built hlis own place, allowing for growth as the children came. I will check out book twio and see how l like it.

A Captivating Listen!
I bought this book because upon hearing the sample I wanted to hear more of Narducci's portrayal of the characters. I was in awe and greatly impressed by his ability to subtly portray the characters to bring them to life. I especially liked how he portrayed the serpent. I felt like hissing, like we might (I'm dating myself) at any villain, when the serpent spoke.
I do have to remember that this is a fictional account, so, literary license prevails. The scriptual references along with McAdoo's explanations are helpful in understanding how she came up with her creativity of the accounts. She has a wonderful imagination and put it in writing. She kept my interest to find out where she was going with the story and Narducci's acting kept me enthralled.
There were only two or three times when I heard words or expression that seemed too 21st century to me. I apologize that I can't remember what they were to cite them.
Other than that, I enjoyed this book. An added bonus is Chapter 1 of the next book to pique your interest.
I recommend this book to fans of Christian friction.
