Publisher's Summary

When Shelly Brockman walked into his office, Sheriff Dare Westmoreland could almost taste the sweet, steamy passion they'd once shared. Then Shelly informed him he was the father of her son, the unruly preteen he'd arrested that day, and his fantasies turned to fury!

Shelly had returned to her hometown in Georgia to save her son from the mean streets of Los Angeles. Getting to know his father would be good for her son. But would being so close to Dare - the only man to make her pulse race - reopen a wounded heart that had never healed? Or, would this be her final chance to win Dare's love?

Dare...Those Westmoreland men!!

I liked it. The Westmoreland men are great. I like them even better than the Madaris family.

Mouth Breather

The dialogue was corney. Quite a bit contrived. However, the person reading the book is a mouth breather. She suckwd air after almost every sentence of dialogue. Drove me crazy. made it through about 2 chapters then gave up. VERY GLADE IT WAS A FREE BOOK.

If you could take any character from A Little Dare out to dinner, who would it be and why?

CHASE, STONE, THORN, AND STORM. I REALLY WANT TO MEET ALL OF THEM. READING THESE BOOKS, I HAVE FALLEN IN LOVE THESE MEN.

Just Egh

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

It wasn't for me. I enjoy a story with a bit more character development. This story was someone looking for a little light reading. I found my mind drifting.

Would you ever listen to anything by Brenda Jackson again?

I don't know. This just isn't my type of story.

Would you be willing to try another one of Madison Vaughn’s performances?

I would give her another try. She didn't have a whole lot to work with. And even though a worman was reading somehow the character of Dare was the strongest.

What character would you cut from A Little Dare?

I don't know if I would cut a particular character. It just needed a stronger story and the characters it did have more fleshed out.

Any additional comments?

This book was on my wish list for almost a year. And I just never managed to get it using one of my Credits. Well, when I saw it on the $4.95 Special, I thought I was in luck...I'm just glad I spent only $4.95 for it. I don't feel so bad.

Great Story

I have read the book before but wanted to listen to it. I didn’t enjoy the reading voice, it was hard to remember that it was a black family. The voice sounded like a older southern white female which took away from the story and made it hard to listen to. I will return this book. Just read it because narration was not good.

Horrible Narration!

I should have known that something was wrong, when the 5 Star reviews mentioned the horrible choice for a narrator. I couldn't get past chpater 4! Horrible, horrible, horrible! Her first book was okay--barely 3 stars (different narrator). I'm shocked that this author has done so well, to be honest...I only read the first two books for a book club, and most of the members refused to read the 2nd book (this one). Hey, I tried...and ended up wasting time that I'll never get back!

Storyline is good but...

This book would be so much better with Sean Crisden, Ron Butler or Jakobi Diem narrating it. This is an African American family/characters with a narrator whose voice fails to give life to the characters. She sounds like a White southern bell and Dare doesn’t have that deep soulful voice that the above mentioned narrators could have brought to this character. Not sure If I can finish listening to this book because of the narration. Too bad because the storyline is a good one.

Didn't finish.

If you're going to market a book as African American, have a narrator to match.

A sweet second chance love story

A sweet story about making mistakes, acknowledging those mistakes, and trying to fix them.

The narrator took a little getting use to at first, but overall she did a great job!
