Publisher's summary

Twelve years ago Matthew "the Rocket" Rising had it all. Married to his high school sweetheart and one of the winningest quarterbacks in the history of college football, he was the number one NFL draft pick. But on the night of the draft, he plummeted from the pinnacle of esteem. Falsely accused of a heinous crime with irrefutable evidence, it seemed in an instant all was lost—his reputation, his career, his freedom, and most devastatingly, the love of his life.

Having served his sentence and never played a down of professional football, Matthew leaves prison with one goal—to find his wife, Audrey, whom no one has seen since the trial. He returns to an unwelcoming reception from his Gardi, Georgia, hometown to learn that Audrey has taken shelter from the media with the nuns at a Catholic school. There she has discovered a young man with the talent to achieve the football career Matthew should have had. All he needs is the right coach. Although helping the boy means Matthew violates the conditions of his release and—if discovered—reincarceration for life, he'll take the chance with hope of winning back Audrey's love.

"A beautiful story of love, redemption, and football. A winning combination."—Library Journal

"Could easily be ripped from today's headlines. A moving story of lost dreams, unending love, truth seeking and in the end, inspiring redemption. This one is not to be missed!"—Michael Morris, author of Man in the Blue Moon and A Place Called Wiregrass

A Winner Never Quits…loving!

What a fabulous story of an unending love, deceit and forgiveness. Charles Martin scores yet another touchdown with this novel. I so appreciate how all of his novels I’ve read or listened to, have God’s love woven into their theme.

This is a real lesson to anyone in need of forgiveness, or healing from heartbreak.
Thank you sir!

Another heart wrenching book by Charles Martin

A story of heartbreak, false accusations, and true love. I didn’t want to stop listening to find out what happened next.

I stumbled upon Charles Martin’s work by accident a few years ago and his stories pull me in to the point I don’t want to stop listening. If you like reading Nicholas Sparks you’ll like reading Charles Martin.

fantastic!

another awesome book from Charles Martin. engaging and real, it captured my mind even when I wasn't listening. I couldn't wait to hear what was going to happen next! his love for his wife Audrey made me melt! no profanity or vulgarity necessary to tell a great story. wow! thank you, Charles! the narrator did a great job of capturing each Southern voice without sounding fake (I can judge this accurately because I'm from the South and have an accent myself). if you enjoy football (and maybe even if you don't) and a well written love story, you will love this book!

A Life Intercepted

I have read many of Charles Martin’s stories and they have all been wonderfully told, exciting, intriguing, interesting and hold me spellbound, but I must say this story about life, love, forgiveness & teaching is the most glorious story I have ever read; not reading this book would be a major loss in your life. I also love that Mr. Martin loves our Almighty Lord & Savior, this shows in all his stories, especially this one. God Bless

1 of His Best!

This was wonderful! I'm not even a football fan and I plan to listen to it again. I'm hoping my husband will give it a shot, as well. I now have 4 favorite Charles Martin books: Long Way Gone, When Crickets Cry, Wrapped in Rain, and A Life Intercepted. Thank you Charles Martin for sharing your God given talent.

Wonderful story!

Charles Martin has done it again. He always captures the essence of grace and the love of God. In "A Life Intercepted" he captured the consequences of blame and unforgiveness, the desperate need to be forgiven, as well as the amazing blessing of true forgiveness for all in the story. Such a poignant portrayal pf each and every character. I also loved that he shared his own personal experience in grace and forgiveness to his son and his audience. CO'S writing is truly gifted. His stories never dusappoint.

Not my fave

I usually love Charles Martin’s books, but this one angered me and was disappointing. I could NOT understand how Audrey could do love and trust, then believe the “evidence.” And the she said he was worth nothing, she did not want Matt bear her, but entrusted this youngster to him…..
But because the other eight I’ve read have been special, I’m moving to the next.
