Publisher's summary

Teen romantic hero Leo Dunning contends with supernatural forces in an artificial-reality narrative that’s quickly spinning out of control.

Leonard Dunning insists he’s not the heroic leader his friends—and enemies—think he is. Originally an amnesiac assigned the role of the goofy best friend of the hero in a paranormal/harem comedy/battle school storyline, Leo’s meddling with predetermined events has inadvertently caused the narrative to acknowledge him as a protagonist . . . and prepare a new set of challenges tailor-made for him to grapple with.

Now, the mad scientist known as Dr. Robatto is wreaking havoc with his robot army; the monster huntress Rinne with her bloodthirsty, possessed sword Onikiri keeps dragging Leo out on patrols to exterminate otherworldly creatures; the scheming arch-mage of the island has his eyes on Leo and his friends; and Judy Sennoma and Eleanor Dracis—the girls who’ve stolen Leo’s heart—are getting impatient because he has yet to make any serious moves on either one of them.

As if multiple nemeses and a polyamorous relationship weren’t enough to juggle, Leo’s troubles increase exponentially when his forgotten identity finally catches up with him. And when all the schemes and narrative plots come to a head, Leo will have to strain his body, mind, and teleportation abilities to the limit just to keep up.

The third volume of the hit slice-of-life romantic-comedy series—with more than two million views on Royal Road—now available on Audible and wherever ebooks are sold!

A great conclusion to the arc started in Book 2

As stated in the title, this book is essentially the second half of the arc started in book 2. Book 2 did a good job with the smaller arcs which comprise the first half of the overall arc of books 2 and 3, and book 3 kept the momentum and finished strong. I cannot wait for book 4, as there are a lot of interesting places the plot could go.

The narrator did a fantastic job, as always. I’m going to look into his other performances while I wait for book 4.

I definitely recommend this series to those who haven’t given it a try yet, and I recommend this book to those who have. If you waited to get book 2 until the overall arc it started was complete, I highly recommend you get book 2 and 3 now.

Great Job, Austin Rising!

Man, Austin KILLED it in the narration of this audiobook! You did an awesome job, Austin! I tip my (non-existent) hat to you, sir! So, another story written by the great Egathentale, and narrated by the TALENTED Austin Rising, completed! Yes, I will agree that the overall plot of this series, didn't really advanced as much like the first book... However, I feel that THIS book was supposed to tie off some "loose ends" that were left from the last book. And to be honest, I'm glad they were! Now we, the readers, can look forward to new horizons that will most likely be coming in the next volume! 🎉

Austin, good job! I can't wait to for the next intallment to this series! I look forward to you taking on your role as narrator again! Until then, take care!

What’s the point

Let’s just say this book isn’t horrible when you get down to it but throughout the start of it I keep asking myself what’s the point. Let me give you a example of what I mean, the adamant denial that he is the leader of there little group, he will give you several examples that of how instead of him it should be so and so but turns around and barks at orders at everyone like he is. Another example is the debate over how the plot gets pushed or who does the pushing, with loads and f examples he almost denies the possibility like he isn’t in a simulation. The consequence of this which is the whole purpose of the book is to find out the truth of his solution hasn’t made progress since the end of the first book. My experience with this book has been useless banter between characters that at the same time dances around all the issues, a lack of progress of character development of our MC (who hasn’t changed at all since the first book) no exploration of what his powers mean and why he is the only one to realize at the beginning he was in a simulation. For me I can’t handle all the back and forth with no purpose but to fluff the word count.

Extremely repetitive, frustrating Doormouse

Judy is a boring and repetitive character who takes up half the book, while the other characters get hardly any space. Listening to her constantly accuse the MC of being a cheater or just scold him endlessly is boring and made me dislike this book. I really enjoyed the first two books but I think this killed the series for me. Do not recommend.
