Better than A Game of Thrones

This was honestly everything I wanted A Game of Thrones to be. And I really enjoyed the narrator.

Immersive Fantasy

A Kingsguard Tale delivers a sweeping, adventure filled journey. At its core, it’s a story of hope, growth, and the opportunity for redemption.

The world-building is vivid and well crafted, with a richly diverse likable cast of characters who each bring something unique to the story.

What really stood out to me were the magical and mystical elements, especially the use of the Kreg/chi or life force energy. The concept added such a great creative layer to the narrative. It was reminiscent of the force in Star Wars, and its differing uses by the good vs the evil tropes.

While there were moments I wished he would have trusted the reader to remember what had been read before, the overall experience was engaging, heartfelt, and undeniably fun.

a classic arc brought with modern flair

first, this story can be read by a wide audience and is well told. it's appeal crosses boundaries of traditional fantasy and science fiction, and G. F. Allen doesn't load the story with unneeded explicit language.
Dart's rise is natural within the take and he brings along a well-rounded cast.
I would recommend A Kingsguard Tale to anyone interested in a heroes journey.

A fun listen

A Kingsguard Tale is wonderfully read and a strong start to a swords and magic fantasy series. Allen has solid writing and a intriguing world with a fun cast. The non-linear storytelling took me a little to adjust to, but fleshed out Dart's past and relationships nicely. If you are a fan of epic fantasy adventure, this would be a good listen for you.

High Fantasy story

This was a good High fantasy story. I loved the idea of the story but the beginning was a bit confusing of a start. we meet our Dart one of the characters in the beginning but then an event unfolds before it switches to his characters life story and how his life adventures started.
I did think that some parts were a bit longer than necessary but overall I did enjoy the story and learning about each of the characters!
