A strange little curiosity

A strange little story that’s the collaboration of Dickens, Wilkie Collins, Adelaide Procter, and Elizabeth Gaskell. As is often the case with such collaborations, it bears glints of each of its authors without quite reaching the brilliance of any of them.
I would personally have preferred something that remained as gothic as it began, but I’m still glad I read it just for the uniqueness of it.
