Book gets a 5 narrator a 3. Averages out to 4.

The narrator of this book definitely takes away the overall enjoyment. But the story line is good so we bear
w ith the narrator. More about a family coming to terms with dysfunction of alcohol than court. But robert whitlow puts a positive, encouraging spin on the outcome.

Intriguing and Gripping story about redemption!

I couldn't stop listening to this story. Great delivery by the narrator. Robert Whitlow always delivers!

Good Story, Terrible Performance

I bought the Whisper Sync version of this book thinking I would have time to sit and read. I didn’t which was unfortunate. I probably would have enjoyed the book had I. As it was, I gritted my teeth through the entire listening. Heath McClure gave a poor, flat, and at times monotone reading of A House Divided. I’ll skip books with his byline from now on. I tried to be generous with the overall rating considering the author’s engaging plot and character development. However, since this is a review for an audiobook, I must consider the reader’s contribution and recommend the print version.

Great read.

Another excellent story by Whitlow. Blaming others is an easy out. While facing ourselves & still loving is harder still. All this twisted into a civil case. I'm still not sure but suspect the job loss as part of the conspiracy.

Great reading material

It’s hard to believe that there are people who would do as Rena did, but I know they are there. I love the verse in the Bible that says “be sure your sins will find you out”. No matter your sin, the mind will torture you until you can’t stand it any longer.

Excellent story

This was a well written story with great character development. I enjoyed it thoroughly and the message of hope it shared.

I feel like I've been in a church...

listening to a long winded sermon for 11 hours. Novels written to sell a religious perspective are not my thing. I made a mistake of not learning more about the author and the type of book he writes. This book is like those written by Joel C Rosenberg on steroids. I expected a good legal thriller.

And I did listen to a good legal thriller that ends as a tear jerker. I really have no complaints about the quality of the story; it is quite good! Indeed as a legal thriller it is better than Grisham's latest pathetic effort (Rogue Lawyer).

I decided not to down rate A House Divided because of its pushing of a religious point of view. Instead, I have rated it solely on the quality of the story.

Needs a Narration Redo

I enjoyed the story. I did not enjoy the narration. Sentences ran together. Scene changes were indistinguishable, making it difficult to know where I was in the story. Also, there was virtually no character separation, which also made it difficult to track with the storyline.

A very heartwarming story about real-life issues. Great reader. Great story line. I would recommend listening to the book.

Alcoholism, Redemption and Family

I immediately liked Corbin . . . lawyer and champion to the downtrodden in the small Georgia town . . . and its no small coincidence that I did . . . as the adult child of an alcoholic, I identified very much with him and his family . . . when he courageously took on the case of the children who had non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, pitting himself and them against the biggest employer in the town, (alleging their illnesses were due to exposure to the chemicals from the local fertilizer plant), my respect grew for him . . . at the same time Corbin was fighting his own demons . . . about to lose the contact with his grandson, Billy, whom he adored, Corbin finally agrees to go to AA meetings . . . and is not entirely successful . . . this story of Corbin, his two grown children, Ray and Roxy . . . big law firms with $ in their eyes . . . rings very true . . . and I appreciate so much the honesty in this tale . . . the truth that life is so ironic, that GOOD lies in the heart of the alcoholics that we love, that justice and right and wrong can be very prevalent in their minds, and that they are fighting a battle that we cannot even fathom . . . the narration left a little to be desired, but otherwise, this is one of the best books . . . the conclusion, too, was very satisfying, both on the legal issue and the eventual healing of the family
