Publisher's summary

When Chloe Martin makes the long overdue trip to Jericho Falls, Nevada, to check on her grandma, she doesn’t plan to stay long. In fact, she has every intention of hightailing it right back to Idaho and leaving the historic mining town she loves to hate, for good.

But then, a man turns up dead in the flower bed and memories about lost loves and lost lives begin to surface. To complicate matters, Chloe finds herself in a love triangle almost as tricky as the mystery she has to solve.

Will Chloe, with the help of Elliot the tuxedo cat, and Jed the adorable pup, be able to find the killer? Just as important, will Chloe finally find peace in Jericho Falls?

Fun start to a cozy series

This series-starter is a sweet cozy mystery that introduces Chloe, and Grandma Lily. All right, so it's all told ftom Chloe's POV, but I loved Grandma Lily. She's a crafty scene-stealer.

I liked Chloe from the first page. She's smart, determined, and loyal. While she didn't want to go home, she stays to help Grandma Lily when she's accused of murder, causing no small amount of trouble for the Chief of Police.

The story is full of humor and drama, a touch of romance, and a mystery including twists and clues that leave the reader guessing. There is also an underlying mystery from Chloe's past that isn't completely resolved, but I was okay with that as I suspect it's going to be a thread running through the series. The main mystery is solved with a solution I didn't see coming. A cast of small-town characters keeps the story entertaining, and Chloe on her toes.

Kristen Hamilton was an excellent narrator. She was easy to listen to, and with the range of voices she used I always knew who was speaking.

Grandma Accused of Murder?

Through the whole book, it had you wondering who killed him. Poor grandma being accused of murder and seeming so nice but actually being sneaky. This is a great mystery book with a twist of history.

Great New Cozy Series

I really enjoyed this book, it definitely falls in the cozy mystery genre. I love that it wasn't predictable, had plenty of interesting and some colorful small town characters, twists and turns, unsolved teen histories, and a great beginning love triangle. I can't wait to see where this series goes, absolutely recommend it to mystery and clean cozy readers.

Parents- PG13 good for middle grade readers to adults
Language- I don't remember much bad language, definitely no f-bombs
Violence- murders but nothing too graphic
Sexual Content- it's really pretty clean other then a few alluded to discussions, or relationships but no actual bedroom scenes

The narrator did a great job with the differentiation and acting skills. I did like it better at 1.3x speed but I do tend to listen to many books a bit faster.

Complex and Captivating!

This was my first Brook Peterson's book. This is the first book in the Jericho Falls Cozy Mysteries series. Chloe's story is well written and intriguing. She is smart and strong. I liked her Grandma Lily and the very handsome chief Garner. The plot is well crafted, complex, and captivating, filled with mystery, twists and turns, and a sweet romance interest. The supporting characters are interesting. The past definitely altered the present in this story. I loved the Epilogue. Kristin Hamilton did a good job with the narration. Looking forward for more in the series.

GREAT START TO THE SERIES

GREAT START TO THE SERIES
What starts out as a sneaky trick turns into an entertaining mystery involving a past happening, a set up in progress and a surprise murder, Now this is a small historic town so finding the perp amongst the colourful townies had lots of surprises and guesses. Easy and pleasant female narrative. Recommended clean mystery.

Amazing story and narration!

This story held my interest throughout the reading! I loved the narrator!Without being overly dramatic, the various voices of the characters were believable and consistent; I knew exactly who was speaking at any point in the story! The male voices were completely believable without being exaggerated! More by this reader and author!
