Publisher's Summary

Dakota Scott has spent her entire adult life trying to outrun her past, but even the privilege and reputation her family name affords her haven't helped her forget. Her mother's mental illness and the memory of the night that haunts her from so long ago won't release her. When the one woman with the power to set her free shows up, Dakota is drawn to her, but she is a painful reminder of everything Dakota has been trying desperately to escape. When Jessie Weldon returns to her hometown after thirty years of avoiding it, she knows she has demons to face and a conflicted past to resolve, but she has no idea love awaits her. Can she give her heart to Dakota with the tragic past that lies between them?

Really nice job by author and narrator.

I really enjoyed this book. In fact I think it's one of the better ones I've listened to from this genre. Lori Prince, your narration in this book is my favorite of yours yet. It was an emotional page turner.

An amazing boom.. you can not pass up!!!!

This was a really good book I found the raw emotions from each character to be realistically sound. The story line was easy to follow. It kept me engaged and wanting...like any good read should. I was heartbroken for the MCs and hopeful to the end for their love. It was really heartwarming and I would recommend it to anyone.

Good listen, a little sad

I enjoyed the pace of this book. It didn’t jump around too much and it was captivating enough that I wasn’t checking to see how much time was left. I always have the same likes and dislikes with Lori Prince. Her narration is great. Usually the main characters are good, but sometimes I feel like the tone switches or they start sounding the same. I felt that here and it gets confusing. Some of her voices are too whiny for my taste, as well. Over all I liked the book, but found it sad throughout.

Whew that’s a lot of anxiety

Unique & interesting plot, sweet love story overall, & steamy romantic moments. Just a TON of angst. And I mean almost to the point of being absurd & kinda felt like it was thrown in just to serve as points of drama that was senseless & made the story feel a bit drawn out. Also, Lori Prince did great job with narration...I just wasn’t crazy about her voice for Dakota. At times she sounded more like a lofty teenage boy than a 50 y/o semi-butch woman...& it was kinda awkward. At times I laughed (not at anything funny, just the way she was portraying the character’s pitch & tone). It’s a decent book though & narration was perfect other than the Dakota thing. I enjoy the author’s writing style overall. But the angst & teen boy voice kept me from giving it 5 stars across the board & not sure this one will be permanent installment in my library.

Lots of angst...

...heartbreak, trauma, drama and dithering. Some romance, sex intimacy and sweetness. Lori Prince’s narration is great.

Very nice story

I enjoyed this story. I thought the author did a really good job with the story for the characters to overcome the situations. It felt very believable. The supporting characters were also well done and were in it just the right amount and also meaningful, especially Drew & Curtis. I admit I wasn't crazy about the narrator. Though I did like that she didn't do a femme/butch voice, I found the main characters voices too similar. Just not different enough, both very deep and husky. Sounded like two versions of Angie Harmon. I did think that the narrator did a very good job with the sex and crying scenes. Lastly, sometime it sounded like she confused her narrator voice with a character's voice. I do wish there had been an epilogue. Overall, I really enjoyed this audiobook.

Great Story

A very well written with a storyline that ebbed and flowed. Lori Prince brought the characters and their emotions front and center. The narration brought this story to life.

Great story with a good mix of drama, angst and Romance.

I really enjoyed this story. It felt very fast paced to me and it kept me interested the whole time. The story was definitely different than your typical romances. I loved the characters. It was a well told story. I just wish that the major breakdown/breakup of the characters had happened earlier in the story because the end felt rushed and the HEA didn't feel promised to me. But I'm happy with the wrap up I suppose. I wouldn't mind a little follow up novella. And Lori did an excellent job narrating. Overall excellent book. I would listen again.
