A wonderfully fresh and vibrant new voice in historical romance, Maya Rodale is warmly welcomed into the Avon family with A Groom of One’s Own, the first book in her delightful Writing Girls series.

A delectable tale of an intrepid lady journalist in Regency England who discovers the handsome the duke of her dreams…when she’s assigned to cover his upcoming wedding! Eloisa James has called this author’s work, “Dazzlingly sexy,” and with A Groom of One’s Own, Maya Rodale takes her rightful place among the most talented and exciting of the new generation of historical romance writers.

Needed More Editing

I've loved Maya's books but this was went on and on.... reiterating the same lines, 2 minute chapters? Could have been shortened by 2 hours. I enjoy the "working girl & duke with wrong fiancè" trope and it had a good "meet cute."

Carolyn Morris's talents were wasted. She's wonderful.

FAB-U-LOUS!

The Writing Girls series starts off with a bang with Sophie’s backstory which perfectly sets the tone for the rest of this romance. There’s a fantastic mix of characters, many comedic moments and enjoyable banter. I adored this book and find the wit and humour on par with my all time fave series ‘Girl Meets Duke’ by Tessa Dare. Also exceptional was Carolyn Morris’ narration - so perfectly matched. 5 stars all round!
