"The best-ever account of life on the PGA tour" (Golf Magazine): John Feinstein's bestselling classic is a must-read for anyone who loves the game of golf.
Traveling with the golfers on the PGA Tour, Feinstein gets inside the heads of the game's greatest players as well as its struggling wannabes. Meet superstars like Nick Price, who nailed a fifty-foot putt at the seventeenth to win the British Open, and Paul Azinger, who marked his return from a bout with cancer with an emotional appearance at the Buick Open. Go behind the scenes for Davis Love III's unforgettable come-from-behind victory in the Ryder Cup. In golf, Feinstein eloquently relates, the line that separates triumph from disappointment is incredibly fine. "One week you've discovered the secret to the game; the next week you never want to play it again."©1995 John Feinstein, All Rights Reserved, Abridgment Approved by the Author; (P)1995 Time Warner AudioBooks, ©1995 Time Warner AudioBooks (Packaging Elements), A Joint Venture of The Atlantic Group and Time Warner Trader Publishing

One of the best books about golf written. Get inside the minds of the world best golfers of the early to mid 90s. Like Davis Love III and Paul Azinger Nick Faldo and Greg Norman. John Feinstein’s book is just one of his many masterpieces about sports. So if you like golf check out this book

I just finished listening to "A Good Walk Spoiled" and found it to be less than I had hoped. I am a big fan of the PGA tour and have attended more than a dozen PGA events around the country over the years. The book provides a summary of the 1994 PGA tour season but does so in a "sports page" style of writing. Most of the naration was a string of results from the highlighted tournaments of the season. "Nick Price did this..then Tom Watson did that.." It seemed to lack the colorful "behind the scenes" stories that I had hoped for. Most of the book detailed the 4 majors and the hand full of PGA stars that battled for the tournament titles of 1994. I find Rick Reilly's writing style to be more fun such as his book "Who's Your Caddy". All this being said, I will give Feinstein's book on the US Open at Bethpage a try but will do so with a slight hestitation.

Just O.K. but I hoped for more

Loved it. Always love it when the author does the reading. It's truer to the story they are telling as only they know the story. Excellent. Could have been complicated with many names, dates and tournaments but Feinstein made it seamless.

Another Feinstein Winner

I love John Feinstein (may he rest in peace) but after hearing all of the hype over this book I can’t help but wonder if I accidentally purchased an abridged version. There are only four chapters and it just flies by with no real story. The production is also very outdated with odd musical parts layered in througout.

Overrated

It’s Not Really a book, more like reading reports of tournaments results from news paper column, complete with scores. There is No story, no plot. The title doesn’t even apply to anything. Then there is this stupid saxophone playing music. I’m asking for a refund

Disappointed, don’t wast your time
