Publisher's summary

An ordinary girl, thrown into extraordinary - and deadly - new worlds...

Blue Faust considers herself a regular girl. A little shy, maybe, and a smidge isolated. But she's got a plan for that, and a list. When she and her mother move to a new city, she implements it. This will be The Year of New Things, and there will be adventures. Little does she know just how right she is.

While out hiking one day with new friends, she finds herself in a strange world. Confronted with kidnappers, stubborn beast-mounts, advanced technology, and killer crystals, she has to somehow find a way to get everyone home. Throw in an assortment of hooligans, mercenaries, and clansmen, and Blue has all the New she can handle.

Note: This audiobook includes the novella Behind These Blue Eyes.

Contains mature themes.

Why did I wait so long to read/listen?!?

I am tempted to make a list after listening to A Girl Named Blue 😊 I really enjoyed Book 1 in Blue and her gangs story ❤️ I liked how different Blue is as a MC and how I kinda wish I was like her more when I was her age haha (not that I am that much older!). I enjoyed the story and really loved her memories of her Dad and her. I had read some reviews while I had been listening to this on audio and thought I wasn't going to like the person everyone said they loved buuuuuuut I was totally wrong. He might have to be added to my book boyfriends list from now on (even though I keep singing Moana songs in my head every time I heard his name hahaha).

I am intrigued on what is going to happen next, already picked up the next books on audio and on ebook. Wish I had more vacation time to lose myself in this story! I would highly recommend this series and cannot wait to read more. I am confirming the authors statements about this being a slow burn. If you are looking for super hot and steamy out of the gate, this is not what you want to read right now. This story shines for its storytelling and world building (I totally want to see what Beast looks like from Cecilia's POV haha).

Only critique for the audiobook is that this would have been amazing as dual/duet, but Rachel does a decent job with the guys (some of the accents were a bit odd). I loved her as Blue though (so 4/5 stars from me).

Mary Sue in altered space

There is no man who is not utterly captivated by the main character, Blue, to the point where they set aside all differences at her say so and drop everything to try to comfort her every hurt and startle. Half way through, good world building gave way to plot building that was a relentless and confusing buildozer, introducing new characters and situations over and over until I just gave up.

Not recommended.
