The Wilsons are an average English middle-class family; Alice is juggling two jobs to save for a second home in France, her husband, Richard, is absconding money from the firm to enact his escape, their older daughter, Florrie, is dealing cannabis at her private school, and their younger daughter, Rosie, has been detained by the police for shoplifting. Meanwhile, Alice’s brother, Peter, continues to annoy everyone with whom he comes into contact, and her best friend, Kate Hardy, is abusive to her loyal girlfriend who is driven to the point of desperation.
