The wall just didn’t look right. Alex has been trying to cope. Life after his deployment had been rough. His ex-wife thought he needed to stop disappointing their daughter. She was right. He would try harder. With six hours before his little girl’s fourth birthday party, he saw the anomaly. One wall was too short. Plenty of time to tear out a panel and look behind it. He found a brick wall. His house wasn’t made of brick. Behind that was another just like the first. He still had time. When the second wall came down, Alex stood and stared at the shining doorway.

I blame this for why I fell behind in work
One of the absolute best stories I've listened to in years. Rich character, intriguing plot, witty banter, and unpredictability at every turn. I truly hope the next omnibus is available or I will have to start this again.

YES!
Not only is this a well-written adventure, but the audio book is superbly narrated. I did not know this author but I'm a fan of Kate Reading from her narration of my very first Audible Epic Fantasy series, so I decided to give this writer a try. I am pleased with the characters and the story, but I'm not pleased that it left me wanting more. I must seek out the other books! Audible I hope you have them!

If you've read her other stories then you can guess what's up with the captain and cyborg. The whole time you'll just be sitting there grinding your teeth telling them to just kiss and bed already!
You'll honestly get that feeling regardless. Enjoy!

Enjoyed it
Good sci-fi setting with spaceships and mechanics, likable characters.
No real criticism besides the tech/culture is a little soft, more lore would be cool on future books. The switch from serious stuggle to romantic comedy banter makes it feel like a daytime tv show sometimes.

pretty good.
decent sci Fi space opera. it would have fared better with a male coactor, and varied dialects of characters. I also would have preferred consistent measurement systems, as it switches between imperial and metric.
