In the thousand years since the Time of Storms, when the world of the Ancients collapsed around them, John’s people have lived peacefully, hidden in the mountains. But evil finds them and John is ripped from the security of the Community. Despite John’s protests his rescuer takes him to the re-born Sydney. Here he is befriended by a young girl, Holy, and her blind brother, Manon. Their father is the leader of the Worker’s league, the city’s first fledgling union. John is horrified by the harshness and the desolation of the lives of the common workers of Sydney and joins the League. On Sundays he is taken to the Cathedral, the only building to survive from ancient Sydney. John’s father was the spiritual leader of his community and John is appalled and confused by the sermons given by the Archbishop. He begins to preach his own sermons outside the Cathedral. The city authorities want to break the troublesome Worker’s league and the Church realises that some of the citizens are being won over by John’s simple message. It is decided it would be best if the troublesome boy disappeared – for good! Ciencia Ficción Postapocalíptico
