Orphaned at a tender age, Miss Elizabeth Hawthorne is left in the care of her strict aunt and uncle. Her free-spirited nature clashes with their expectations, and fearing for their family’s reputation, they insist she marry the local solicitor’s son. But when Lizzie crosses paths with a kindhearted stable hand, she begins to wonder if there’s more to life than a loveless marriage.

Henry Cavendish, Third Duke of Ashbourne, is weary of his duties and his mother’s relentless matchmaking. Seeking escape, he retreats to his best friend’s estate, disguising himself as a stable hand, finding peace in the process. Yet when he meets Lizzie, her wild spirit captivates him—forcing him to question whether the truth will set him free or cost him everything.

Unable to resist the mutual attraction, Lizzie and Henry have a series of clandestine encounters, forging a fragile bond. While societal expectations threaten to tear them apart, Henry’s disguised identity could serve the fatal blow. Can the two of them risk everything to protect their unlikely love, or are they destined to forever remain worlds apart?

Really loved the premise of the story! But I felt like it was lacking some intricacies and drama.
The virtual narration was not good at all. Pronunciation mistakes were very distracting. E. g., pronouncing “w-what” as “double you what” or reading “tear up” (as in crying) like “tear up” (as in ripping). This is not the first virtual narration I’ve experienced and not the worst, but there are better ones out there for sure. Will look into this author’s work more. Hopefully not all their books are using virtual voice over.

Great premise-could be so much better
