Their love is forbidden by rules, religion, and risk. Yet, still they can't resist. Captain Hugh Wilkes is on his last tour of duty in Afghanistan. The British Army is withdrawing, and Wilkes expects his posting to be event-free. We met in a trapped elevator. Emmett was on his way to work, sophisticated and handsome in his tailored suit and tie. I was on my way to the sperm bank. Awkward, right? At 35, my life hadn't taken the path I thought it would and I was tired of waiting - I wanted a baby. And I was ready to take matters into my own hands to make it happen. After our ill-fated elevator encounter, Emmett insisted on taking me to dinner - he also insisted on something else - that I ditch my plan involving a turkey baster and let him do the job. He would be my baby daddy.

Publisher's summary
Zachary has a dilemma. His girlfriend, Reese, has a special birthday coming up soon and he has absolutely no clue what to get for her. It doesn't help that Zach does not share or really understand Reese's biggest hobby - comic books, superheroes, and everything that goes with them. Zach raids Reese's DVD collection for inspiration, and what he finds there gives him an idea...possibly the best one he's ever had.
Sure, Reese has fantasized about her favorite superheroes. All those muscles and rakish smiles are to die for. She didn't think Zach would ever really understand, though. But he proves her wrong in the best way possible.

Original spin on erotic fiction
I believe well-written erotic fiction is an art form that's underappreciated. Many try and fail. But this book is a great success. The writing is excellent, and the narration is top notch. The narrator, Ms. Bloom, had me fooled a few times when she read lines like, "Ohhhh Yessss!" and she turned something that simple into a sizzling, eye-popping wham. I realized at that point I probably shouldn't have been listening while pushing a shopping cart down the soup aisle at the grocery store.
The story is original and clever, and adds dimension to the premise of a story crammed (no pun intended) with lots of juicy sex scenes. This story presents stories of straight sex between one man and one woman with no kink other than role playing. It was super well done and I highly recommend it for a fun escape into role playing fantasy. Although I was provided this book at no charge in exchange for this honest review, I'll gladly pay for a sequel if Lucy Felthouse chooses to write one!

Nerdy and Smutty!
Nerdy & Smutty!
A Different Kind of Cosplay is a short read, but by no means skimps on the hot!
Zachary wants to get his girlfriend Reese an extra special 30 year birthday present. She is a big comic book nerd that loves superheroes and cosplay. Zach doesn’t share this hobby so finds himself in a bit of a pickle. He turns to Reese's DVD collection in hopes of finding the answers. What ensues is some clever trickery, secret shipments, and a not so pointless decoy.
I really enjoyed this story. I am a big nerd myself so one could say I am a little biased, but this is a very hot & steamy read regardless of your preferences for dress up.
The narrator was excellent. There were distinct differences between the narrator and the different characters, both male and female, which made for a nice listening experience.
This is my first read by this author and my first listen by this narrator. I am looking forward to listening to some more from both of these lovely artists.
Overall I give this 5 of 5 stars!

Playful and sexy
What made the experience of listening to A Different Kind of Cosplay the most enjoyable?
A lot of times when listening to this type of book I have issues with the narration but I didn't with this one. The narrator didn't overdo it and for me that was a definite plus.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Different Kind of Cosplay?
When the boyfriend came out with the first costume and she wasn't catching on to what he was doing. I found it sweet and cute.
What about Xanthia Bloom’s performance did you like?
I liked her style of narration. She wasn't overly dramatic or trying too hard to sound sexy.

Different to what I normally read
Boy, I want a boyfriend like Zach. Reese is soon to have a birthday, Zach puts a lot of thought into it and delivers Reese one night of her sexual fantasies.
I was drawn in by the storyline and quite enjoyed it.
All though the narrator told the story well, her accent was a little too much for me.

Every Woman Needs A Man Like This!
If you are a nerd, you may know how hard it is to find someone that has your same views. In this story, the author gives us some hope that a man like that exists! He didn't pinch pennies (or stamina) when it came to satisfying his woman! And who wouldn't want to take Thor to bed??

Not bad but that accent.....
**I was given this audio book for free from Audiobook Boom and others for a honest review.**

Definitely rated R.
Sure I have read and listened to erotica or "smut" before but this is kind of a geeky version of blah. I don't normally say much on these but considering I did get this for a review I am going to be as honest as I can without being completely rude.
I really did like the idea that this book was set in England, had Avenger themes, and could give me a great idea for spicing things up, but as far as the actual story I think I'm a bit of the wrong person for this one. I mean don't get me wrong, if you want to listen to a soft-porn with a better than average story line then pick this one, but with the British accent that seemed a bit forced and fake at times, I just couldn't get into it. The blunt descriptions were okay and something I could get past since I am a lesbian and not really into "cock" or "dick" but the way they were said in the accent I just couldn't really enjoy the "smut" factor. It was more me trying not to laugh about how corny it was.
Now, I am totally not judging this because I am a lesbian because this is about a straight couple who bang each other, literally to the point of passing out. I am judging this one mainly on the narrator. She spoke clearly enough and I understand being set in England for the accent, but it just didn't seem like a natural accent to me. I'm giving it 3 stars because after everything I didn't like, it did keep me entertained for a short while and it gave me an idea to spice things up.

Well delivered eroticism
A Different Kind of Cosplay found under the erotic heading is just as advertised. Erotic, but with out beating you over the head with frank stark sexuality. It was fun and playful and a nice change of pace. A special note of praise to Xanthia Bloom whose narration was a joy to listen to. Fun frolicking romp
If you could sum up A Different Kind of Cosplay in three words, what would they be?
Fun, racy, loving
Which character – as performed by Xanthia Bloom – was your favorite?
Xanthia was an enthusiastic narrator. She did a good job with both characters and genders. Not over the top, but still had passion.
Any additional comments?
This was a fun story. It had was spicy and sexy, but actually kind of fun and loving. It was very explicit erotica, but not violent or mean. It was actually very loving and I would recommend it to couples.

This was fun. It's really good when your mate tries to find a way to enjoy the things you do. I'd like to see her dress up as well if there's going to be a part 2.

Enjoyable
What made the experience of listening to A Different Kind of Cosplay the most enjoyable?
This was my first audible book in this genre and it was definitely different. It was easy to listen to and the story wasn't too complex.
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Different Kind of Cosplay?
Given that Hawkeye is my favourite too, then it's easy to get why that particular section of the story was most memorable for me.
What about Xanthia Bloom’s performance did you like?
It wasn't rushed, it wasn't over played. It was a good, steady, performance that kept you engaged with the story.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
I did listen to it in one sitting.
Any additional comments?
My first, but not my last in this genre I'm thinking
