Can you fall in love like they do in the movies? It's Evie Summers' job to find out. Because if she can't convince her film agency's biggest client, Ezra Chester, to write the romantic-comedy screenplay he owes producers, her career will be over. The catch? He thinks rom-coms are unrealistic - and he'll only put pen to paper if Evie shows him that it's possible to meet a man in real life the way it happens on the big screen. Cynical Evie might not believe in happily ever after, but she'll do what it takes to save the job that's been her lifeline.

Daniel really does get the 7.30 train every morning, which is easy because he hasn’t been able to sleep properly since his dad died. One morning, Nadia’s eye catches sight of a post in the daily paper: To the cute girl with the coffee stains on her dress. I’m the guy who’s always standing near the doors.... Drink sometime? Beachworthy Rom Com
Ok rom-com. It was kinda painful to listen to all the mewling concerning dating tropes but it was meant to be a fast, light, and humorous book. I definitely want to work in their office as nobody seems to actually work; everyone was too busy jumping to conclusions or being dim-witted about relationships, running all sorts of personal errands but still get a paycheck. Yea!

Hoped Matt Dunn would be a hit . . . .
When I'm reading a book, I read each and every word. Other people say that they skim through portions and skip other portions entirely. But NOT ME! And when I listen to an audiobook, I listen intently to every single part. But, while listening to Matt Dunn's A DAY AT THE OFFICE, I found myself not really caring when I couldn't hear each and every line because the sink was running or I had to step out of the room for a bit. I'm not sure what happened here, but I plan to give Mr. Dunn another try with my next audiobook choice. I really want to have found another wonderful author to follow!

My first Review...Here Goes!
I've never taken the time to write a review before, mostly because others have written what I would have said. This time it doesn't matter to me. As I listened to this book I kept wondering,"Why am I wasting my time? What is the point of this book?".
I mean I get it, office workers' love lives. However, except for some odd reason, the character Callum, has a bit of a backstory, the others, nothing. Which leaves you with no reason to care about any of the others. There are the minutest of details provided for the characters as though they did not exist prior to their previous relationship.
It's a pity because Matt Dunn has written better so I know he has the potential to do superior work than this tripe.

Any additional comments?
I don't know if this is a good book or not. I suspect not. I think it's in that genre of glib, not-quite-funny-enough, not-quite-clever-enough, not-quite-well-written-enough but nevertheless inoffensive-enough humorous novels of which there are thousands.
On the other hand it's difficult to get a real sense of the writing when the narrator. Insists on reading. Every sentence. Like it's the shipping forecast.
Avoid.

Lovely feel-good story... dreadful narration
Where does A Day at the Office rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Very, very low...
What was one of the most memorable moments of A Day at the Office?
The shaving bit....
Would you be willing to try another one of James Clamp’s performances?
NO, not ever... dreadful performance! So robotic!
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
Not listen. Read? yes...
Any additional comments?
It could've been a great audiobook if a better narrator had been chosen. I stopped listening after a while and switched to only reading. It was terrible!

Not Quite For Me!
I'm probably a bit too old for this, because it all seems a bit twee and juvenile. So I didn't really get into it or get beyond the fourth chapter! I'm not sure if I could wade through the stilted actions and conversations and get to the real heart of the book.
So, my advice is, only read this book if you're under 30 and possibly single, because otherwise you might just find this a bit tedious or bland!!

fan book
This was only my second audio book and I loved it, I can see why people love audio books. The Narrator was brilliant because he voiced all the characters so well that when I switched to reading I was able to hear his voice in my head.
All the characters were well developed and multi faceted so they were beleivable. Which meant that I was able to connect with all of them in different ways and for different reasons.
I loved the basis of the story, the feelings of different people in an office about valentines day and about relationships due to their experiences. It was developed fully and in a way that made it really believable. It also meant that I was able to visualise things that were happening easily.
I will read/listen to this book again as I loved the story and narration so much. The author will be an auto buy/read author and the narrator will be an auto buy/listen to narrator. Without doubt and unreservedly I will both recommend the book to others and buy it as a gift for anyone I know who I think will enjoy it.

Classic Dunn
This was a good fun read with the interesting, if not a little predictable web of a storyline which Dunn creates. A relaxing time filler for both men and women I can't help but think Dunn is the modern day male version of Mills & Boon without the explicitness!
