Publisher's Summary

The adventure concludes with the triumphant finale in the Riftwar Saga. Raymond E. Feist is an internationally best-selling author.

The battle may be over, but war is coming… The Kingdom forces may have won the first conflict but the enemy has a strong grip on Midkemia and invasion now seems inevitable.

Arutha travels north to confront the Dark Elves, but without help, Pug knows that Arutha's forces face slaughter. With Tomas he must scour the world - and beyond - to find the one person with enough power to give them a chance. If they fail, Midkemia will be the first of many worlds to fall to a madman with the power to dominate death itself…

A Darkness at Sethanon concludes Raymond E. Feist's bestselling Riftwar Saga.

Solid story in written form as well as audio form

The strong performance by Peter Joyce drives this fantastic crossover. I read this series in written form many years ago and I find that they are holding their own in audio format. This is a solid addition to the series

He writes about love in the same Way a potato would write about the irish

So i like this book. But i admit that i almost returend it. And Only did not because how much i liked the ending. Now i feel that he could write romance better, Cause the Way he does it now is Kinda short, to the point, and mostly bitter. So just like how a potato would write about the irish.

Pronunciation.<br />

If Peter Joyce learned how to pronounce the names properly the story would sound a lot better.

Great saga to experience

Having read the books some time ago I was keen to revisit them and Peter Joyce’s performance genuinely added to the experience. Characters are brought to live very well through his voice and it made many commuting train journeys a pleasure.

Everything wrapped up nicely - and done well.

I liked this series. I read it when it first came out, and have the two preceding books as well.

What I said then holds true here - Joyce's reading takes some getting used to, as do his weird pronunciations of character names and places. But if you've got the third book here, you must be ok with it by now.

Feist brings the plot to a satisfactory ending without it being too trite or deus ex machina, and there's no shortage of things going on to make it an exciting read with plenty of action and plot twists over two different worlds, with a nice bit of culture clash as characters crossover in both directions.

No real criticisms, apart from points I made earlier - all the major heroes constantly throw themselves into danger yet all survive despite the cannon fodder soldiers surrounding them being cut to ribbons, and there are too many characters who seem to have stepped off the medieval catwalk, being described as incredibly beautiful or ruggedly handsome and noble.

A Good End

I have enjoyed this opening trilogy of books and found this final one to be better than the second (Silverthorn). I found myself willing for the next listening opportunity to come. I think the final journey to Sethanon and the end battle was a little rushed but it still satisfied. Now I will continue with the Empire Trilogy - off to Kelewan I go!

narration issues

combatant is is not pronounced com-ba-tant

Liam is lee-am not Ly-am

and a few others I can't think of atm. very distressing to listen to mispronounced words, ruins the story for me.

An end to a wonderful series...

The Riftwar Saga remains a classic that still holds up well today. Wonderful story telling and performed superbly by someone whose loves what they do. I have read this series many times but having it performed added a new perspective to it.

Excellent Story and Well Told.

I had read this series years ago and while looking through the Audible index for 10+ hour audiobooks, I came across this series.
The saga is gripping and so enjoyable to listen to. Peter Joyce does an excellent job using different character voices.
The characters are likeable, with heroes hidden as villans along the way.
Start at the beginning of the series - you can find the reading order on the author's website - and get ready for hundreds of hours of exciting listening.

A strong finish

It was good to see this story through to the end. I wasn't a huge fan of the dragon supplied, or the way all the loose ends were quickly tied up at the end, but it was still an enjoyable series. I'm glad I read it.
