Publisher's summary

The Workbook for Students is Book 2 of 4 (three books and one supplement) of the A Course in Miracles Series. A Course in Miracles is also known as "the Course" or ACIM. Scribed by Dr. Helen Schucman, it is a self-study course that aims to assist listeners, readers, and students in achieving spiritual transformation. ACIM presents a purely non-dualistic philosophy of forgiveness and includes practical lessons and applications for the practice of forgiveness in one's daily life. As its title implies, A Course in Miracles is arranged throughout as a teaching device. It consists of three books: Text, Workbook for Students, and Manual for Teachers. The order in which students choose to use the books, and the ways in which they study them, depends on their particular needs and preferences. Two supplements to the Course, "Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process, Practice" and "The Song of Prayer", are also included as part of ACIM.

The curriculum the Course proposes is carefully conceived and is explained, step by step, at both the theoretical and practical levels. It emphasizes application rather than theory, and experience rather than theology. Although Christian in statement, the Course deals with universal spiritual themes. It emphasizes that it is but one version of the universal curriculum. There are many others, this one differing from them only in form. They all lead to God in the end.

Book 1: Text is largely theoretical, and sets forth the concepts on which the Course's thought system is based. Its ideas contain the foundation for the lessons in Book 2, the Workbook for Students. Without the practical application the Workbook provides, the Text would remain largely a series of abstractions which would hardly suffice to bring about the thought reversal at which the Course aims.

Book 2: Workbook for Students includes 365 lessons, one for each day of the year. It is not necessary, however, to do the lessons at that tempo, and one might want to remain with a particularly appealing lesson for more than one day. The practical nature of the Workbook is underscored by the introduction to its lessons, which emphasizes experience through application rather than a prior commitment to a spiritual goal.

Some of the ideas the Workbook presents you will find hard to believe, and others may seem to be quite startling. This does not matter. You are merely asked to apply the ideas as you are directed to do. You are not asked to judge them at all. You are asked only to use them. It is their use that will give them meaning to you, and will show you that they are true.

Book 3: Manual for Teachers is written in question and answer form, and provides answers to some of the more likely questions a student might ask. It also includes a clarification of a number of the terms the Course uses, explaining them within the theoretical framework of the Text.

The Course makes no claim to finality, nor are the lessons in its Workbook for Students intended to bring the student's learning to completion. At the end, the listener is left in the hands of his or her own Internal Teacher, Who will direct all subsequent learning as He sees fit.

Supplements to ACIM, "Psychotherapy: Purpose, Process, Practice" and "The Song of Prayer", were scribed by Dr. Helen Schucman, as was A Course in Miracles, and are extensions of its principles.

superb if you are ready

The Course trains the mind and opens the heart. You will find out that all things are forgivable and your burden will lighten as you realize that all things are gently planned for you by One who seeks your highest good. You will get over thinking you were ever, ever alone, or that it was ever even possible for you to be alone. Reality will replace perceptions, and you will prefer reality and laugh at your perceptions that you thought were ever real. You will love yourself and your Self and others as your Self! (If you are interested in the supplements to the Course, Manual for Teachers, etc. don't buy them separately, they are included in the recording of the main Text, which I have also written a recommendation for here on Audible.)

Doesn't work for me on audio

I really enjoyed listening to the audio ACIM Part I but can't remember to listen to the daily lesson, and I don't want to stop with just one lesson when I do. I think this workbook would be better in printed book form.

The Best!

Would you consider the audio edition of A Course in Miracles: Workbook for Students, Vol. 2 to be better than the print version?

It is better than the print version in some ways, but in other ways it is better to look at the words. I love to listen to my workbook lesson of the day, but i also love to check it out in print through out the day. So I guess I would say that both versions are a valuable addition to my Kindle collection.

Each lesson is deeper than it appears

I bought this book for my partner who was in my life years ago. I decided to see what it was about and spent a year going through the course. First let me say the whole course is written in masculine like the bible. It would make sense if the two were written by the same source through humans. Second, each lesson may seem superficial to some, but they are really deeper. Third, there are a lot of people writing books claiming to be based on the 'A Course In Miracles' and their not. One of the worst things that couldn't happen was making this book's copyright public domain. There are so many knock off and cheap imitations it's hard to discern what is truth or fiction. I went with the original and it works.

The course starts out telling us there are many paths to reach the same goal. I've heard people argue this is untrue. As someone who has traveled the world and participated in religious gatherings or services I have to agree with the course. One method will never fit everyone because we're not all at the same point on our spiritual path.

I've never heard of anyone mastering the course except Bill Thetford as stated by Helen who wrote the course. This course will cause you to start peeling back the layers of who you are and it will take decades or longer to accomplish. Read it each day and do the lessons! Let it marinate and do it again after a year.

Hard to follow as an audio book for me

I purchased this audio book with the intention to grasp the concepts in this book while on the road. The book shares a daily tip that builds off of the one prior however, I found that it doesn’t provide enough examples to really help me understand the concept well enough to apply it to my day/life. I am disappointed that I wasn’t able to follow this book as I had hoped. I periodically go back to it with the hopes that something will click, so far no luck.
